Austin Traffic Fatality #76 
– Pedestrian vs. Car

Location:      1300 South Capital of Texas Highway
Deceased:     Sarah Jane Villegas, White female, D.O.B. 11-11-91

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2013 Cadillac was traveling northbound in the 1300 block of South Capital of Texas Highway. A female pedestrian was crossing from east to west and was struck by the Cadillac. She was also hit by a blue 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche and possibly a third vehicle. The pedestrian died at the scene. There are no sidewalks or crosswalks in the area.

Deceased:    Curtis Thomas Grace, White male, D.O.B. 1-23-81

The preliminary investigation shows a white 2006 Toyota Prius was traveling west on Little Texas Lane, turning southbound onto South Congress Avenue. A pedestrian, Curtis Thomas Grace, was in a crosswalk with a walk signal and was struck by the Prius as it made a left turn.  Grace was transported to South Austin Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The preliminary investigation shows a blue 1999 Toyota Camry was travelling east on W. Ben White Blvd. when it left the road for unknown reasons and struck a concrete pillar. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene. Impairment is suspected and toxicology is pending to determine if it was a factor in this incident.

Arrested:     Franklyn Montes De Oca, White male, D.O.B. 04-18-1996
Deceased:   Caden Nieneker, White male, D.O.B. 10-14-1999

The preliminary investigation shows a gray 2004 BMW 325Ci was travelling east on W. SH 71 when it drove off the right side of the roadway, striking a tree along the passenger’s side.  The driver and one passenger fled the scene of the crash. Another passenger was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver later returned to the scene and charges are currently pending. Additionally, toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor in this incident.

– Pedestrian vs Car

Deceased:    Leslie Thomas, Black Male (D.O.B. 07/28/47)

The preliminary investigation shows a black 2010 Ford Ranger was eastbound in the 3300 block of Manor Road. A pedestrian was crossing mid-block from north to south, which is not an authorized or safe area for pedestrians to cross a roadway. The driver of the Ford Ranger was merging into the turn lane to make a left turn onto Anchor Lane and never saw the pedestrian until striking him.  The pedestrian was transported to the University Medical Center at Brackenridge, where he died from his injuries.

The preliminary investigation shows a gray 2007 Honda Civic was travelling northbound in the 7000 block of N. Lamar Blvd at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree along the east curb line of N. Lamar Blvd.  The driver was pronounced deceased on scene. Toxicology is pending to determine is intoxication was a factor in this incident.

The preliminary investigation shows a gray 2005 Acura TSX was travelling southbound in the 6800 block of N. IH-35 in the inside lane of traffic. A pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway
when she was struck by the Acura. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. Toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor in this incident.

Deceased:     38-year-old Hispanic female (pending family notification)

The preliminary investigation shows that an unknown vehicle was northbound in the 10000 block of South IH-35 northbound proper when it struck a pedestrian who was on the roadway. The vehicle left the scene and Failed to Stop and Render Aid. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2012 white Peterbilt Tractor Truck was traveling eastbound in the 10000 block of East Highway 290 eastbound service road in the center lane, slowing down for the red light at the southbound SH 130 service road when a 2012 black Toyota Yaris failed to keep an assured clear distance, hitting the trailer in the back.  Gomez and Prophit were pronounced deceased on the scene. Toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor in this incident.

– Pedestrian vs Car

Location:       800 Wagon Trail
Deceased:    David Hanner, White male, D.O.B. 1-4-1959

The preliminary investigation shows that a pedestrian was crossing the street at 800 Wagon Trail and fell down. A vehicle that had been passing stopped and tried to block the male with his vehicle. A silver 2001 Ford Explorer saw the car blocking the street and drove around it, unknowingly running over the downed pedestrian.  The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge where his condition worsened over the coming days. He died on November 17, 2016 at 5:05 p.m.

Deceased:    James Arthur Gantt, Black male, D.O.B. 01-31-55

The preliminary investigation shows that a red 1997 Ford pickup was southbound in the 5300 block of North IH-35 when a pedestrian attempted to cross the highway. The driver of the Ford did not see the pedestrian until it was too late, and he struck him.  A blue 2011 Hyundai was behind the red Ford, had no time to react to the incident and he also struck the pedestrian.  Both drivers remained on scene. It was dark at the time of the crash.

– Motorcycle vs Median (Intoxication)

Location:       13700 South IH-35 southbound service road
Deceased:    Michael Wayne Smith, White male, D.O.B. 5-27-77

The preliminary investigation shows that a black Harley Davidson motorcycle was southbound in lane #2 of the 13700 block of South IH-35 southbound service road when it left the roadway to its right into the grass. It re-entered the roadway and went down, with the rider separating from the motorcycle. Because the driver was an organ donor, he was transported to Saint David’s South Austin Medical Center.  The driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was pronounced deceased November 12, 2016, at 8:38 p.m.

The preliminary investigation shows that a blue 2007 Hyundai was traveling southbound in the left lane of North Lamar at less than 45 mph due to wet roads. A pedestrian was attempting to cross North Lamar mid-block in the 8900 block of the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The driver was cited for not having a driver’s license or insurance

Location: 5200 U.S. Highway 290 West
Deceased: Joseph Patrick Daniels, white male (D.O.B. 3-17-82)

The preliminary investigation shows that a bicyclist was traveling westbound in the outside lane of the 5200 block of U.S. Highway 290 West service road. A 2010 white Dodge Charger was traveling in the same lane. The Charger hit the bicyclist from behind. At the time of the crash the roadway was dark and dimly lit.

Deceased:    Tyler Michael Robinson, White male (D.O.B. 1-19-1994)

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2001 Mazda Protege was southbound on Manchaca Rd. when it drifted into the northbound lane and struck a 2012 red Kia Sportage that was heading northbound in the inside lane head on. The collision with the Mazda Protege caused the Kia Sportage to spin and strike a 2005 gray Hyundai Sonata which was traveling northbound behind the Sportage. The driver of the Mazda Protege was pronounced deceased on scene. All other drivers and passengers were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Toxicology is pending to determine if impairment was a factor in this incident.

Location:      1400 block of West Koenig Lane
Deceased:    Spencer Salomon Monroe, White male (D.O.B. 5-15-1995)

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2001 Honda Civic was eastbound in approximately the 1400 block of W. Koenig Lane.  A 2014 Mack garbage truck had backed into the street and was struck in the rear by the Civic. The driver of the Civic died at the scene.

– Car vs Guardrail  (Possible Intox)

Location:      2500 block of S. IH-35 Southbound proper
Deceased:    Heidi Carrillo, White female (D.O.B. 3-22-96)

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2007 Honda Civic was traveling southbound in the 2500 block of IH-35. The driver lost control and struck a guard rail on the west side of the roadway. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced deceased at the scene at 2:35 a.m.  Police believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.

Location:      W. U.S. Highway 290 to S. Mopac Expressway, northbound ramp
Deceased:    Michael Thomas Sullivan, White male (D.O.B. 12-09-46)

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2007 Ford 500SL, a brown 2012 Honda Accord and a black 2012 Toyota Highlander were stopped in Traffic on the W. U.S. Highway 290 to S. Mopac Expressway northbound ramp when a black 2013 Ford Expedition struck the Ford 500SL from behind. This initial crash caused a chain reaction with the other vehicles involved. The Driver of the Ford 500SL was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, where he later died as a result of his injuries on Saturday, October 15, 2016.

Deceased:    Zachary Schmidt, White male (D.O.B. 9-27-83)

The preliminary investigation shows that a green Acura Legend was traveling northbound, at a high rate of speed, in the 5700 block of South Mopac Expressway. The driver failed to negotiate the exit ramp onto State Highway 71 East and struck a light pole along the east curb line. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Toxicology is pending to determine whether or not intoxication was a factor in this crash.

Location:      6700 block of Metropolis Dr.
Deceased:    Gerardo Martinez Gonzalez, Hispanic male (D.O.B. 6-20-86)

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2010 Ford F-150 was traveling southbound in the 6700 block of Metropolis Dr. at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a right curve in the road. The vehicle struck a guard rail and then a light pole along the east curb line. The driver, Gerardo Gonzalez, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Location:       7500 block Cameron Rd.
Deceased:    Jose Rogelio, White male, D.O.B. 1-7-82

The preliminary investigation shows that a green 2000 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Cameron Rd. and failed to negotiate a right curve in the road, drove into the center median, and struck a tree. The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in this crash.

Austin Traffic Fatality #52
-Motorcycle vs Car  (Intoxication)

Time:              2:15 a.m.
Location:       5100 block North Mopac Expressway, southbound proper
Deceased:    Stephen Crowell, Jr., White male, D.O.B. 7-23-84

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a green 1997 GMC Yukon were southbound on Mopac in the #2 lane when the motorcycle struck the left side of the Yukon’s rear bumper from behind. The Harley slid toward the left side of the roadway, causing the Yukon to strike the guardrail. The driver of the Harley was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Due to the strong odor of alcohol that was emitting from the driver of the motorcycle, intoxication is suspected as a factor of this crash.

Deceased:     Jessica Port, White female (6-17-84)

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2009 Chevrolet van was traveling westbound on Southwest Parkway turning left into a private drive. A black 2014 Triumph motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Southwest Parkway at the same time. The van turned left in front of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to hit the van. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to South Austin Hospital where she died a short time later.  The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet and intoxication is not a factor in this crash.

– Pedestrian vs Car (Intoxication)

Location:      S. 1st and St. Elmo
Deceased:    Michael Joseph Howard, White male (D.O.B. 11-06-62)

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling northbound on S. 1st St. at St. Elmo with a green light.  A pedestrian was trying to cross the street and fell down twice. The driver of the Tahoe did not see the pedestrian until the last second. He tried to stop but wasn’t able to stop in time to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene and no charges are expected to be filed.   The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is possible the pedestrian was intoxicated and toxicology is pending to confirm.

– Car vs. Car (Failed to Yield)

Location:      8900 North FM 620/Boulder Lane.
Deceased:    Diego Coleman Lafranco, White male, (D.O.B. 5-5-97)

The preliminary investigation shows a red 2013 Pontiac was stopped in the designated left turn lane on Boulder Lane at the intersection of FM 620. The light that controls the left turn alternately provides a solid green arrow (which gives that lane the right of way) and a solid green (on which you have to yield to north bound FM 620 vehicles). The Pontiac failed to yield right of way to northbound traffic. A witness account and the evidence observed at the scene are consistent with the Pontiac stopping (or slowing dramatically) in the intersection during the turning sequence. When it did so the white 2010 Chevrolet, which was traveling northbound on FM 620 in the right lane with a solid green light, struck the passenger side of the Pontiac, causing both vehicles to rotate before coming to a rest on the northeast corner of FM 620 and Boulder Lane.  The driver of the Pontiac who has been identified as Diego Coleman Lafranco (5-5-97), was transported to Round Rock Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and were the lone vehicle occupants.

– Car vs. Car (Wrong Way)

Deceased:    Pete Zachariah Steward, White male, (D.O.B. 8-28-72)
Michael Keith Kollman, White male, (D.O.B. 12-19-60)

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2016 Toyota Corolla was driving southbound (Wrong Way on a One Way) on the northbound side of 2610 Capital of Texas Highway and struck a red 2012 Nissan Frontier Pickup, a northbound vehicle, head-on. Witnesses reported seeing the Toyota enter the northbound lanes of Capital of Texas Highway from the northbound exit ramp at the intersection of West Lake Boulevard.   The driver and lone occupant of the Toyota who has been identified as Pete Zachariah Steward died at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the Nissan who has been identified as Michael Keith Kollman (12-19-60), was transported to South Austin Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan succumbed to his injuries on September 11, 2016. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.   Toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor in this incident.

– Car vs. Motorcycle (Failed to Yield)

The preliminary investigation shows a black 2012 Chevy Cruze was facing southbound in the turn lane, attempting to turn left. A gold 2001 BMW motorcycle was northbound in the outside lane on Burnet Rd. The driver of the Cruze failed to yield right of way, making the left turn, and struck the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge. He died as a result of his injuries on September 4, 2016.   The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet and had a motorcycle endorsement.

Ana Prado faces charges since her license was first suspended after she was convicted for drunken driving in Williamson County in 2010, and, four years later, Prado was convicted of driving with a suspended license.  In June, about three months before the crash involving Abdul-Khaliq, her license was suspended again for failing to pay state fees, the affidavit said.  The motorcycle crash happened in North Austin near the intersection of Burnet and Ohlen roads. There, police say, Prado attempted to cut through a funeral procession, causing Abdul-Khaliq, who was riding his patrol motorcycle, to collide with her vehicle.

Deceased:    Alexander Davsley, White male, (D.O.B. 1-3-87)

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2016 Jeep Renegade and black 2016 Ducati motorcycle were both traveling northbound in about the 10800 block of North Mopac in the outside lane. The driver of the Jeep was attempting to change lanes into the center lane, but before making the lane change, the right front of the Jeep struck the rear of the motorcycle.    The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Alexander Davsley (D.O.B. 1-3-87) and was pronounced deceased at the scene at 8:44 p.m. Davsley was wearing a helmet and had a motorcycle endorsement (license).

– Car vs. Car vs. Pole

Date:             August 23, 2016
Time:            1:05 p.m.
Location:      2400 block of W. Anderson Ln.
Deceased:    William Barnet, White male, (D.O.B. 1-21-28)

The preliminary investigation shows a 2008 silver Honda Accord was eastbound in the 2400 block of W. Anderson Ln. in the inside lane. A blue VW Tiguan was exiting a private driveway on the south curb line of Anderson Ln. and struck the Honda’s right front side with its left front. The Honda then traveled in an easterly direction and struck a wood utility pole on the south side of Anderson Ln.  There is a stop sign controlling traffic from the private drive onto W. Anderson Ln.  Both occupants of the Honda were transported to the University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital where the passenger succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased on August 26, 2016 at 9:03 a.m.

– Car vs. Pedestrian (Failed to Stop)

Deceased:    Douglas C. Hohenshell, White male, (D.O.B. 6-5-58)
Arrested:      Jesus Juarez, Jr., Hispanic male, (23 years of age)

The preliminary investigation shows a black and white 2002 Chevrolet Malibu was driving westbound on W. William Cannon Dr. approaching the intersection at Bill Hughes Rd. with a green light controlling westbound traffic when it struck a pedestrian who was walking northbound in the crosswalk at that intersection. In doing so, the pedestrian was walking against/disregarding the pedestrian control light for the crosswalk. The victim was transported to South Austin Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to those injuries on August 25, 2016.  The Malibu fled the scene after the crash, but was located a short time later. The driver of the suspect vehicle was identified as Jesus Juarez, Jr. (23 years of age). He was arrested and charged with Fail to Stop and Render Aid.  Toxicology is pending on the pedestrian.

– Car Lost Control (Intox Manslaughter)

Location:      15000 block of N IH-35 Southbound
Deceased:     Jessica Nicole Mugica, Hispanic female (D.O.B. 10-19-98)  18 years old
Arrested:       Raymond Jones, Black male (42 years of age)

The preliminary investigation shows that a tan 2005 Dodge 1500 crew cab pick-up truck was driving southbound on IH-35. The vehicle appears to have lost control, slid across the frontage road and rolled. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.

Location:      3300 block of South IH-35 northbound service road
Deceased:    Ricardo Velazquez, Hispanic male, D.O.B. 9-10-77

The preliminary investigation shows that a tan 2004 Chevrolet C1500 crew cab pickup was driving northbound on the frontage road of South IH-35.  The vehicle appears to have hydroplaned and lost control, rolling into a utility pole. The driver, Ricardo Velazquez, was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver Mazda sedan was traveling northbound in the left lane of the 50 block of North IH-35 when a pedestrian crossed the highway. The Ford Focus struck the side of the Garbage Truck which caused the Ford Focus to lose control striking the front of Tractor Trailer. The driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Toxicology is pending to determine whether or not intoxication or impairment were factors in this crash.

A white 2013 Hyundai Veloster was traveling eastbound on Parmer Lane. The Honda turned in front of the Hyundai and was struck on the rear right door by the Hyundai. A five-year-old was seat belted in a booster seat in the back seat of the Honda on the far right side. The five-year-old was transported to Dell Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died on Saturday, July 23, 2016.  There were no signs of intoxication for either driver.

An open alcoholic beverage was found in the vehicle. Speed and intoxication appear to be factors in this crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 1999 Toyota Camry and a maroon 1996 Toyota 4-Runner were traveling northbound in the 2400 block of IH-35. It is believed that the driver of the 4-Runner was slowing for traffic when the driver of the Camry, traveling at a high rate of speed, rear-ended the 4-Runner, causing it to roll over.  Each vehicle had a driver and no other occupants. The driver of the Camry was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Celia Loza-Aviles, the driver of the 4-Runner, was transported to UMC Brackenridge and later died from her injuries.  Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash and criminal charges will be filed, investigation ongoing.

The teenager was struck by the vehicle in the east bound lanes.  It has not been determined if the teenager was a pedestrian or a cyclist at the time of the crash. The teenager was transported to Round Rock Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.  The driver of the 4 Runner stayed on scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Chevrolet turned onto Cameron Rd. striking four-year-old Ethan Hernandez. Ethan was legally walking in the crosswalk with family members and had the right of way when he was hit by the truck. The driver of the Chevrolet fled the scene. Ethan was transported to Dell Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

A white 1996 Ford Econoline 250 van was traveling southbound on Cameron Rd., in the inside lane, and was unable to avoid striking the Infiniti. The Ford’s front end struck the passenger side of the Infiniti.  The driver of the Infiniti, who has been identified as Faustino Torres-Mijes (D.O.B. 6-26-86) was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is believed that speed was a factor in this incident. Toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor as well

Two passengers in the vehicle were transported to area hospitals.  The significant damage to the driver’s side door suggests that excessive speed was a factor in the crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2007 Gold Toyota 4Runner car was driving northbound in the 100 North IH-35 northbound proper when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. It appears that the pedestrian, James D. Palacios, Black male, D.O.B. 4-7-90, was crossing the high speed roadway from east to west, crossed two of three lanes of traffic and was struck in the inside lane. This area of the roadway is both an unsafe and unauthorized area for pedestrian traffic. The driver immediately stopped and waited on scene for police to arrive.   Palacios was pronounced deceased on scene. It is suspected that he used a nearby on ramp to enter the high speed roadway. Palacios was found to have marijuana in his possession. Toxicology is pending to determine if impairment was a factor.

The motorcycle then hit a 2012 white Honda Civic that was stopped legally on the side of the road with its hazard lights flashing.  The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Toxicology is pending to determine whether impairment was a factor in this crash.  He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but it was not strapped and secured.

A 2013 black , Volkswagen Beetle carpulled out of a private drive westbound across Lake Creek Parkway and stopped in the inside northbound lane. The motorcycle driver struck the left side of the Volkswagen Beetle. The driver and passenger of the motorcycle and the driver of Volkswagen were transported to Round Rock Medical Center. The driver of the motorcycle died at the hospital as a result of his injuries from the crash. The motorcycle driver had a valid driver’s license but was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Toxicology is still pending from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The driver of the motorcycle had a valid license and was wearing a helmet.

The impact ejected the motorcycle rider and he struck a stone wall. The rider was not wearing a helmet, sustained head injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash but the motorcycle rider had neither a motorcycle license nor a valid Texas Driver’s license. Toxicology is still pending from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Dodge Journey was traveling northbound on Brodie Lane when it was struck.   The driver of Dodge and the occupants were not injured. On March 31, 2016 the driver of the Honda died at Brackenridge Hospital as a result of injuries from the crash.

The driver, Matias Junior Valle, White male, 20 years of age, was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a pedestrian, Fabian Balderas-Cerritos, Hispanic male, D.O.B. 10-27-85, was in the main travel lanes of the 1100 block of South IH-35 northbound proper and was struck by numerous vehicles. Witness statements verified the fact that several vehicles tried to swerve and avoid an object in the roadway, later identified as the pedestrian. Witnesses stated that it is unknown which vehicle struck the pedestrian first and that all vehicles that were observed striking the pedestrian left the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. Light rain was falling and the area was dark and is a high speed roadway not designed for pedestrian crossings.

The driver of the Civic immediately stopped and waited on scene for police to arrive.

The Grand Marquis was then pushed into a 2011 Blue Hyundia Elantra.  The driver of the Grand Marquis, Susan Hard, was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  She died as a result of her injuries on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 3:15 p.m.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2014 black/red Suzuki motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, northbound on FM 620 near Steiner Ranch Blvd. A Travis County Constable, in a marked patrol unit, activated his lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop on the motorcyclist. The driver of the motorcycle refused to stop and accelerated to a higher speed, turning eastbound onto FM 2222.  The Constable saw Driver of the motorcycle turned eastbound, but soon lost sight of the motorcyclist and thought he had turned off on a side road. The Constable turned off his lights and siren and continued east bound when he drove upon a crash involving the Suzuki motorcycle and a 2004 Grey Mercedes. The traffic eastbound in the 10,100 block of FM 2222 had come to a stop due to a serious crash that occurred earlier that evening near 2222 and Jester Blvd.  The driver of the motorcycle crashed into the rear end of the Mercedes.   Wakeman did not have a driver’s license and his identification card had been suspended for multiple previous violations.

The preliminary investigation shows that shows that a 2002 Chevrolet 2500 pickup was traveling east bound on Pecan Park Blvd. in the inside lane and ran the red light at North U.S. Hwy. 183 Northbound service road. A 2006 blue and silver Yamaha motorcycle was traveling north bound in the inside lane of North U.S. Hwy. 183 Northbound service road and collided with pick up’s right side. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The motorcycle’s passenger was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were wearing helmets. The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There were no signs of intoxication displayed by either party.

Deceased:   Lori Pollock, White Female, D.O.B. 09/13/1983
Arrested:    Zachary Dugger, White Male (27 years of age)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2003 Silver Land Rover was traveling northbound in the 6700 block Cooper Lane when the driver lost control, leaving the roadway and rolled into a tree.  The passenger of the Land Rover, identified as Lori Pollock White Female, D.O.B. 09/13/1983 was pronounced deceased, at 2:56 a.m., at the scene. The driver of the Land Rover was transported to the University Medical Center Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries and was subsequently arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter.

– Car vs. Motorcycle – (No Helmet)

Location:    Burleson Road and McKinney Falls Parkway
Deceased:  Timothy Guajardo, White Male, D.O.B. 01/31/1980

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2007 Lexus was in the turn lane at the traffic light facing northbound at Burleson Rd., waiting to turn westbound onto McKinney Falls Parkway.  The light was green, but the driver was yielding the right of way to oncoming traffic.  A truck was in the inside lane, at the intersection, southbound on Burleson.  The light turned green for the truck, he proceeded through the intersection. A black 2004 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was also southbound on Burleson approaching the truck. The driver of the motorcycle passed the truck on the left, entering the turn lane, striking the Lexus head on ejecting the driver off the motorcycle.  The driver was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the Lexus stayed at the scene and there was no indication of impairment.

Deceased:   Donald Norton, White Male, DOB 12/13/1950

The preliminary investigation shows that a Silver Oldsmobile Alero was traveling northbound in the 12300 Block of N. Lamar Blvd., when a pedestrian operating a motorized wheelchair entered his lane of traffic. The pedestrian was crossing the roadway where there was no crosswalk or intersection, and lighting was limited. The driver of the Silver Oldsmobile attempted to stop, but could not before striking the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to Brackenridge Hospital with serious bodily injury. The driver stayed at the scene and there was no indication of impairment.  The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries 4 days later.

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 1996 Toyota Tercel was traveling eastbound in the 6300 block of East William Cannon Drive. The driver lost control for unknown reasons and left the roadway, striking a utility pole.  The driver was pronounced deceased on scene.

– Car vs. Pedestrian –  (Alcohol Related)

Location:     4800 block East Riverside Drive
Deceased:  Charlsea Coon, White female, (D.O.B.11/21/92)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was traveling westbound in the 4800 block of East Riverside Drive with a green light.  The pedestrian was walking south to north in the crosswalk against the signal when the pickup struck her. The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge . On January 17, 2016 the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The preliminary investigation has indicated that alcohol may have been ingested by the pedestrian; further investigation is required to determine if alcohol was actually a contributing factor.

Deceased:     Katherine Nora Snodgrass, White Female, (D.O.B. 06/27/1993)

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2013 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling northbound in the 9700 block of Lake Creek Parkway. The Cruze struck a pedestrian in the northbound lane.   The pedestrian, who has been identified as Katherine Nora Snodgrass, was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
