Austin’s  71st fatal traffic crash and the 76th fatality of 2017.  At this time in 2016, there were 75 fatal traffic crashes and 77 traffic fatalities

— Car vs wall (lost control)

Time:            1:38 p.m.
Location:      2100 block of Burton Drive
Deceased:    Shane Carson Goldstein, White male (D.O.B. 6-18-84)

The preliminary investigation indicates that a maroon, 1997 Honda CRV was traveling southbound in the 2100 block of Burton Drive when the driver lost control, drove off the left side of the roadway and struck a concrete retaining wall. The driver of the vehicle, Shane Carson Goldstein, was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Location:      8400 block of Research Blvd. Southbound
Deceased:    Robert Lance Trewitt, White male (D.O.B. 1-22-55)

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2002, blue, Chevrolet truck was traveling southbound in the 8400 block of Research Blvd. in the inside lane when it swerved into the right lane to avoid a collision. When the Chevrolet entered the right lane, it struck a 1998 BMW motorcycle from behind, knocking the driver off the bike and over a retaining wall. The driver fell to the frontage road where he sustained serious injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died as a result of his injuries on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.

Deceased:    Dominique Gaines, Black male, (D.O.B. 10-29-88)

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2010, blue Hyundai was traveling southbound on Northeast Dr. The driver of the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. The passenger, Dominique Gaines, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas with life-threatening injuries.

Deceased:    Deion Lee Odom, Black male (D.O.B. 12-21-93)

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on Cesar Chavez when the driver lost control, left the roadway and struck several objects. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deceased:      Edwin Proenza-Benedit, White male, (D.O.B. 10/17/1999)

The preliminary investigation indicates that the 2007 Suzuki GSX-R Motorcycle operated by Proenza-Benedit was in the left lane of the Research Blvd. service road traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver of a 2004 GMC 2500 truck turned from Jamestown Drive on to the service road. The motorcycle struck the right rear tire of the truck and lost control. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deceased:    Sajjad Zaid Alqassab, Middle Eastern male, (D.O.B. 12-19-01)

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver, 2017 Kia Sorento was traveling southbound in the far left lane of the 13100 block of N. I-35. The pedestrian was running across I-35 towards the northbound lanes, when he was struck by the Sorento.  The pedestrian, identified as 15-year-old Sajjad Zaid Alqassab, was transported to Round Rock Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Deceased:    Christopher M Peterson W/M 10-8-1981

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a silver, 1979 Vespa Moped was traveling southbound on N. Lamar Blvd. The Moped crossed into oncoming traffic and was hit by a 2017 Toyota Corolla that was traveling northbound on N. Lamar Blvd. The driver of the Moped died at the scene.

Location:      13900 S. IH-35.
Deceased:    Juan Estrada, Hispanic male, (D.O.B. 9-08-62)

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a silver, 2008 Toyota Highlander had just existed the SH-45 ramp and was attempting to merge onto S. IH-35 southbound when the motorist struck Juan Estrada, who was standing in the road. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the site of the crash. The driver remained on scene.

Deceased:    Sean Gayle, White male, (D.O.B. 7-06-87)

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a black, 2017 Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound in the center lane in the 800 block of W. Slaughter Lane when the motorist struck Sean Gayle, who was crossing midblock. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The motorist remained on scene.

Location:      4200 E. MLK Jr. Blvd.
Deceased:     Miranda Ashley Stark, White female, (D.O.B. 8-14-90)

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver, 2001 Lexus was traveling westbound in the 4200 block of E. MLK Jr. Blvd. at a high rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway at the north curb line and drove partially on the grassy shoulder. The vehicle then went back onto the roadway and crossed both westbound lanes of E. MLK Jr. Blvd. and into the path of an eastbound, grey, Nissan Cube. The driver of the Lexus was ejected from the vehicle. Both drivers were transported to the hospital and the driver of the Lexus died as a result of her injuries.

Deceased:    Christopher Joseph Gorman, White male, (DOB 05/09/1981)

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver, 2010 Jaguar was driving southbound on IH 35 in the 5300 block when a pedestrian ran across the southbound lanes of IH 35. The Jaguar hit the pedestrian.  The pedestrian died at the scene. The driver of the Jaguar remained on scene and cooperated. No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.

Deceased:     Palma-Rodriguez, Anderson, Hispanic male, 18 years of age
Unidentified female

The preliminary investigation shows that Palma-Rodriguez was racing another vehicle in the black, 4-door Honda. He was driving westbound on E. Riverside Dr. at a high rate of speed when he lost control, striking a billboard post. The vehicle then caught fire.  Both Palma-Rodriguez and the as-yet unidentified female passenger in the car died at the scene.

Deceased:     Latulippe, Nancy, White female, 38 years of age
Latulippe, Jackson, White male, 14 years of age
Latulippe, Scott, White male, 41 years of age

The preliminary investigation shows that 41-year-old Guy Brasted was driving a black, Jeep Wrangler northbound on Research Blvd., when he lost control, leaving the roadway and resulting in a head on collision with a White, Fiat 500, that was traveling southbound. A third vehicle sustained front-end damage from the continuation of the initial impact of the Jeep and Fiat.  Brasted was ejected from his vehicle. Nancy Latulippe, 38, who was driving the Fiat, and passenger Jackson Latulippe, 14, were pronounced deceased at the scene.  Two other passengers in the Fiat were transported to the hospital — Scott Latulippe died of injuries Friday a female child with non-life threatening injuries. The driver from the third vehicle was not transported for injuries.  Brasted was initially transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, but was later determined to be non-life threatening. He is facing two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault.

The preliminary investigation shows that a red, 2007 Mazda 6 was driving southbound on Spicewood Springs Rd. at a high rate of speed. The vehicle lost control and struck a traffic light pole, which is located on the southwest corner of Spicewood Springs Rd. and Scotland Well Dr.  The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deceased:     Zachary Ryan Alexander-Ball, White male (D.O.B. 04-27-91)

The preliminary investigation shows that a blue, 2002 Yamaha motorcycle was driving northbound in the 1300 block of Thornberry Rd. at a high rate of speed. The driver of the motorcycle failed to navigate a sharp curve to head east on to Crozier Ln. and struck a metal gate along the north side of Crozier Ln.  The driver of the motorcycle, Zachary Ryan Alexander-Ball, was pronounced decease at the scene.

Deceased:     Marcos Mauricio Morales, Hispanic male (D.O.B. 8-30-72)

The preliminary investigation shows that a blue, Ford pickup truck was driving southbound on Chicon Street when it struck a pedestrian who was walking in a southeast direction in the intersection of Chicon and Willow streets. After striking the pedestrian, the Ford truck briefly stopped but then fled the scene southbound on Chicon St. without stopping and rendering aid to the pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as Mauricio Marcos Morales, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died a short time later.

Deceased:    Starlite Stewart, White male, 29 years of age

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver, 2010 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Comal Street when the driver, who had a green light, entered the intersection to turn left on to 7th Street when the green, 2011 Triumph Motorcycle driven by Stewart ran the red light hitting the left front side of the Toyota. Stewart was transported by EMS to Dell Seton Hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.

Location:       3400 block of South Lamar
Deceased:     Jasper Bailey, Black male, (D.O.B. 6-20-83)

The preliminary investigation shows that a white, 2014 Toyota RAV4 was driving southbound in the center turn lane and a white, 2001 Chevrolet Pickup Truck was driving northbound in the left lane of S. Lamar. The Toyota hit the pedestrian who was wearing all black clothing and standing in the center turn lane. This pushed the pedestrian into the Chevrolet as it passed in the left northbound lane. The drivers of the Toyota and Chevrolet vehicles stopped immediately and called 911, while staying on scene. They have been cooperative with the investigation.  The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that a black, 2013 Nissan Pathfinder, traveling eastbound, in the inside lane of the 5000 block of E. Stassney Lane, struck and killed Castro who was lying in the roadway along the north curb line. The driver remained at the scene.

Deceased:    Epifanio Jimenez-Garcia, Hispanic male (D.O.B. 4-7-56)

The preliminary investigation shows that a white, 2013 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound in the 100 block of Robert T. Martinez Jr. Street, when a pedestrian walked into its path. The pedestrian was crossing from east to west without looking to see if vehicles were approaching.  The pedestrian was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died as a result of his injuries on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 10:28 a.m.

The preliminary investigation shows that a dark-colored 1999 Ford Van and a white 2016 VW Station Wagon were travelling northbound in the 100 block of the east frontage road when they entered the intersection against a yellow light to turn left on to westbound E. Cesar Chavez at which time the van struck the station wagon. The van lost control and breached the raised curb on the northwest corner fatally striking the victim who was sleeping under the I-35 overpass. The driver remained at the scene

The preliminary investigation shows that a blue 2006 Dodge Caravan was traveling east bound in the 600 block of W. 5th Street. A bicyclist exited a private driveway on the north side of W. 5th Street and turned west bound (wrong way on a one-way) and was struck head on by the Dodge Caravan.  The bicyclist was transported by Austin/Travis County EMS to Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas. He died as a result of his injuries Friday, September 29, 2017 at 7:16 a.m.

Location:      5500 Block of N. Capital of Texas Hwy Southbound
Deceased:    Brandon Keith Martinez, Hispanic male (D.O.B. 8-20-83)

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2014 Chevrolet Camaro was stopped in the outside lane at the red light on southbound N. Capital of Texas Highway at Courtyard Drive when Brandon Martinez, driving a white 2013 Cadillac, struck the Camaro from behind. The Cadillac ended up in the inside lane where it was hit on the driver’s side by a southbound white 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.    Brandon Martinez was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Location:      East Riverside Dr. and Willow Creek Dr.
Deceased:    Josefa (Josie) Torres, Hispanic female, (D.O.B. 8-28-40)

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2013 Honda CRV was traveling westbound on East Riverside Dr. A tan 2003 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on East Riverside Drive and attempting to turn northbound into a private driveway at the Willow Creek intersection. The Altima failed to yield right of way turning left. The Honda CRV struck the Altima’s right side with its front.  The passenger of the vehicle was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where she died as a result of her injures on Thursday, September 21, 2017.

Deceased:     Sterlin Adreon Milam, Black male (D.O.B. 12-3-78)

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2012 Dodge Ram was traveling westbound in the 6600 block of McNeil Drive in the outside lane. A pedestrian, identified as Sterlin Adreon Milam, was standing in the roadway when he was struck by the Dodge Ram’s left front.   Sterlin Adreon Milam was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver remained at the scene.

Deceased:     Frances Berry, White female (D.O.B. 7-22-30)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2002 white Dodge Dakota was traveling in the middle lane of northbound IH-35 when the driver struck a trailer being towed by a truck tractor.  The passenger in the Dodge Dakota, Frances Berry, was transported to the hospital and died as a result of her injuries on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Location:       4300 Block of U.S. Highway 183 Southbound
Deceased:     Ashley Clark, Black female (D.O.B. 5-28-89)

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2006 Jeep Liberty was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 183 when it struck a blue 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, left the roadway and crashed through residential fences.   The driver of the Jeep was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other injuries.

Deceased:     Richard Stacy Stader, White male (D.O.B. 1-26-80)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2010 blue Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Wells Branch Parkway at the IH-35 southbound service road when a pedestrian crossed north against the traffic signal and was struck by the driver of the Honda. The driver fled immediately following the crash. The suspect vehicle was located but the driver has yet to be located. The pedestrian, Richard Stacy Stader, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deceased:    Spencer Bernard Johnson II, Black male (D.O.B. 7-12-84)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2007 beige Kia Spectra was traveling northbound on the U.S. Highway 183 service road, drove through the intersection of Pecan Park Boulevard and struck the steel utility pole at the Northwest corner of the intersection. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deceased:     Alexander Roderick Hopkins, White male (D.O.B. 1-25-92)

The preliminary investigation shows that a gray 2006 Mazda 6 was traveling southbound on N. Lamar Blvd. at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, exited the west side of the roadway and struck the building at 6900 N. Lamar Blvd. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Deceased:     Juan Tziquin-Guarcha, Hispanic male (D.O.B. 7-15-86)

The preliminary investigation shows that a dark, unidentified SUV was traveling eastbound on a paved alleyway that leads from the south side of a business on Congress Avenue to South Congress Avenue. The vehicle entered the alleyway from a rear parking lot and struck a pedestrian who was lying down in the alleyway. The vehicle fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian and headed southbound on South Congress Avenue.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2013 black and red Triumph Motorcycle was traveling southbound on S. Lamar Blvd. when a 2009 black Honda Odyssey was attempting to turn left onto S. Lamar Blvd. from Montclaire St. The Honda failed to yield right of way to the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Deceased:    Melvin Omar Garay Chacon, Hispanic male (D.O.B. 10-13-95)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2009 black Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound in the left lane of William Cannon Drive at a very high rate of speed when it hit the driver’s side of a 2010 black Nissan Altima. The Nissan Altima was attempting to turn left on William Cannon Drive from Elm Creek Drive. After the crash, the driver of the Silverado was observed leaving the scene.   The driver of the Altima was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deceased:    Kenyae Monique Dixon, Black female (D.O.B. 01/03/92)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2006 red Kia was traveling northbound in the left lane of N IH-35 in the 8300 block at a high rate of speed when they encountered a pedestrian attempting to run across the highway from east to west. The pedestrian was almost struck by a vehicle in the middle lane before running in front of the Kia. The Kia immediately stopped after hitting the pedestrian. The pedestrian, Kenyae Monique Dixon, was pronounced deceased on the scene at 9:37 p.m.

Location:      1100 Pearl Retreat Lane
Deceased:    Tracy Allen Dam, Asian male (D.O.B. 10/08/68)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2015 red Ducati motorcycle was traveling southbound on Pearl Retreat Lane at a high rate of speed when it pulled alongside of another vehicle traveling southbound and revved the motor. The Ducati motorcycle was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when it accelerated quickly causing the front wheel to lift off ground. The motorcycle lost control while it was on the one wheel. The motorcycle jumped the east curb. The motorcycle continued to travel onto the grass before crossing the street and hitting the fence on the west side of the roadway.  Austin-Travis County E.M.S. transported the driver of the motorcycle, Tracey Allen Dam, to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries at 6:58 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2001 International dump truck and a 2003 gold Buick LeSabre were traveling southbound on Bastrop Highway. The International dump truck changed lanes to the right and struck the Buick LeSabre causing it to spin out of control into the median between north and south bound Bastrop Highway. Melvin, the passenger in the LeSabre, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center by Austin-Travis County E.M.S. He died as a result of his injuries at 4:10 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017.

There was not an intersection or crosswalk for them to be in.  Trujillo, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center by Austin-Travis County E.M.S. He died as a result of his injuries at 12:48 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2007 Kenworth Dump Truck was traveling southbound in the left lane of N. Capital of Texas Highway when it struck a gray 2016 Ford Mustang on the passenger side at the intersection of N. Capital of Texas Highway and Courtyard Drive. The dump truck and the mustang continued southbound through the intersection and struck a parked, unattended, gray 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan before coming to its final rest.  The driver of the mustang, Robert David Register, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center by Austin-Travis County E.M.S. He died as a result of his injuries at 11:05 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017. This case is still being investigated.

Anderson Lane. The Honda Civic veered to the left across the turn lane and into the path of Toyota Tacoma, crashing into the front of the vehicle. The driver of the Civic, Daniel R. Sullins, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A blue 2006 Ford Mustang was driving southbound in the left lane of FM 973 and ran the red light at the E. SH 71 westbound service road. This caused the F-350 to strike the blue mustang’s left side with its front.  The driver of the Mustang, Juan Narciso Garcia, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 1999 blue Chevrolet Tahoe was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of William Cannon Dr. in the 400 block when the blue Tahoe drove onto the center median striking a sign and metal light pole. The Tahoe continued on a southeast path as it rolled and flipped numerous times before hitting a tree and damaging a metal fence on the southern side of William Cannon Dr. The driver of the Tahoe was not restrained and was ejected during the crash.  The driver, who was identified as Emmanuel Castro Ramirez, was transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital by Austin-Travis County EMS, where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 4:03 p.m.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2014 purple Freightliner truck was traveling southbound in the 3800 block of Airport Blvd. in the center lane and slowing to stop for a red light at the intersection of 38 ½ St. A 2011 white Ford Expedition failed to keep assured clear distance and struck the Freightliner’s trailer from behind.    The driver of the Expedition, who has been identified as Deborah Ann Halsell, was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital and was pronounced deceased at 12:59 p.m.

Stassney Ln. and was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado which was traveling westbound in the inside lane. The pedestrian was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries on Sunday, April 30, 2017.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash.   The three other occupants inside of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

The driver of the Yamaha was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The passenger in the Ram was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with multiple injuries.

The driver of the Corolla as pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the 4Runner was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. Intoxication is suspected as being a factor in this crash.

The driver and passenger of the Sonic were transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital.  The passenger was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving to the hospital.

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2017 Subaru Forester was traveling southbound in the 1800 block of South 1st St. in the left lane. A bicyclist was attempting to cross South 1st from east to west and appeared from an alley on the east side of the roadway.  The bicyclist failed to yield right of way, crossed the northbound lanes and continued as he rode in front of the Subaru. The driver of the Subaru immediately stopped and remained on scene after hitting the bicyclist. After further investigation by a DWI Enforcement Officer, the driver of the Subaru was arrested for DWI. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The pedestrian, Ronnie Lee Hall, was crossing mid-block eastbound when he was struck by the Volvo’s right front side. Hall was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with critical injuries. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on March 24, 2017 at 8:19 p.m.  Hall had five previous convictions of Pedestrian in the Roadway offenses.

A pedestrian, Tahjai Lamar Jackson, was crossing Burnet Rd. from east to west and was struck by the Camry. Tahjai was transported to Round Rock Medical Center, where he remained until March 24, 2017, when he succumbed to his injuries.

The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with critical injuries. He died as a result of his injuries on Monday, March 20, 2017.  The pedestrian is suspected of being intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2011 black Toyota FJ Cruiser was traveling westbound in the 4800 block of E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in the inside lane. The bicyclist was traveling eastbound in the inside westbound lane. The Toyota and the bicyclist crashed head-on in the inside westbound lane.  The bicyclist, identified as Charlie Bunton, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Intoxication is a contributing factor in this case. Brosemer was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

At the same time, a 1996 green Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on Felter Lane and failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign while attempting to turn westbound on Burleson Road. The front of the Honda struck the driver’s side of the Toyota.  The driver of the Toyota was transported to South Austin Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 7:31 p.m.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2015 silver Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Ed Bluestein Boulevard. A 2000 white Mack dump truck was stopped for the red light at the intersection of Ed Bluestein and Loyola Lane, also northbound. The Nissan struck the dump truck from behind. The driver of the dump truck was transported to South Austin Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan had to be extracted from the vehicle and was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital. She died as a result of her injuries on Sunday, February 26, 2017.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2016 red Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling westbound on the E. U.S. Highway 290 and took the exit ramp to southbound IH-35. The operator of the motorcycle lost control on the ramp and struck the concrete side barrier on the right side. This caused the operator to fall on to Koenig Lane. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates a gray 2016 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on N. Capital of Texas Hwy. and Lakewood Dr. at a high rate of speed. A gold 2001 Toyota Rav-4, a gray 2006 Volvo S40, a black 2015 Nissan Rogue and a gray 2006 Lexus IS530 were all stopped at the red light on Capital of Texas northbound. Due to the unsafe speed on the wet road, the Camry was unable to stop for the red light and struck the rear of both the Rav-4 and Volvo. The Camry then rotated and struck the Lexus. The force of the impact caused the Volvo to be pushed into the Rogue. The driver of the Volvo was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. The passenger in the Volvo was transported to the University Medical Center at Brackenridge with serious injuries and the drivers of the Camry and Rogue were also transported to Brackenridge with minor injuries.

The preliminary investigation shows a 2014 orange Ford Escape was traveling west bound in the 6600 block of E. Ben White Blvd. at a high rate of speed and struck the impact attenuator of the on ramp for W. Ben White Blvd. This caused the vehicle to ricochet and strike the concrete wall along the north curb line of the service road. The driver was transported to South Austin Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounce deceased.  Toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor in this crash.

The Chevrolet left the roadway for some unknown reason and continued southbound striking a metal pole. Emergency medical personnel responded, however the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
