– Pedestrian vs Car

Time:              6:11 p.m.
Location:        6729 Manor Rd.
Deceased:      Unidentified male

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2008 maroon Cadillac was traveling northbound in the right lane of Manor Rd. in the 6700 block. As the vehicle approached the crest of a slight incline, it crashed into a pedestrian who was standing in the middle of the right lane. The pedestrian was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died a short time after arriving. He has not been identified.  The driver remained on scene and is cooperating. No charges are expected at this time.

Location:       11200 Dessau Rd.
Deceased:      Elvin Diaz-Felipe, Hispanic male, (D.O.B. 7-15-97)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2008 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound in the 12000 block of Dessau Rd. at the intersection of Braker Ln. when the driver struck a pedestrian in the southbound lanes. Video evidence from the vehicle shows the pedestrian walking across Dessau Rd. from east to west while talking on a cell phone. At the time of the crash, the pedestrian was walking parallel to, but outside of the crosswalk with his head oriented in a downward direction and away from approaching southbound traffic. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.   The driver remained on scene and is cooperating. No charges are expected at this time.

Location:       7600 block of SH 71
Deceased:     Ana Argueta, Hispanic female, (D.O.B. 12-07-57)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2013, dark blue, Dodge Ram truck was traveling westbound in the 7600 block of SH 71 in the outside lane. The pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway from the south curb line to the north curb line. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was attempting to cross mid-block over five lanes of traffic in an area that is heavily congested with traffic and not well lit. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. It is not believed that driver impairment, speed, or weather/road conditions were factors in this incident. It is, however, believed that poor lighting conditions in the dark, early-morning hours contributed to the collision. Life-saving measures were attempted on the pedestrian by the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS, but the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and died on scene at 7:22 a.m.

– Truck vs barrier (Lost Control)

Deceased:     Matthew John Smith, White male (D.O.B. 6-30-86)

The preliminary investigation shows that a black, 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling westbound on the frontage road of Ben White approaching Congress Avenue. The driver of the truck attempted to make the turnaround for the eastbound Ben White frontage road when he lost control and struck the cement barrier. The vehicle caught on fire. The driver was extracted from the truck and transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died as a result of his injuries.

– Car vs Pedestrian

Location:       6000 block of Cameron Road
Deceased:     Merry Daye | Black female | 09/25/1974

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver, 2014 Dodge Ram pickup was traveling southbound in the 6000 block of Cameron Road at approximately 2:26 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019. The truck struck 45-year-old Merry Daye who was in the designated southbound bike lane. Merry Daye was attempting to address a mechanical issue with her bike when she was hit. She was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where she was pronounced deceased.   An autopsy has been performed. The official cause of death is pending.  APD officers located the Dodge Ram that is believed to have been involved. The vehicle was unoccupied. It is currently being processed for evidence.

– Bus vs Pedestrian

Location:       2000 block of E. Oltorf
Deceased:     Unidentified, Hispanic male

The preliminary investigation indicates that a blue and silver Capital Metro bus was traveling westbound near the 2000 block of E. Oltorf. The driver stopped and a few passengers exited the rear door of the bus. The unidentified pedestrian exited the bus and was on the sidewalk. As the bus drove away, the pedestrian stumbled backwards, falling between the curb and the bus. The pedestrian was struck by the back portion of the bus. He was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas and later died as a result of his injuries.

– Car vs Car (Wrong Way)

Location:       8700 block of W. SH 71
Deceased:     Cody Allen Faust | White male | 4/19/1992

The preliminary investigation indicates the grey, 2020 Toyota Camry driven by Cody Allen Faust was traveling eastbound in the 8700 block of W. SH 71 when it crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a white, 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee head on. Cody Allen Faust was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died at 12:45 p.m.   The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the passenger in the Toyota Camry were also transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.   An autopsy has been performed. We are awaiting toxicology results to determine whether impairment was a factor.

Location:       6700 block of Johnny Morris Rd.
Deceased:     Isaac Albarran, White male, (D.O.B. 3-23-44)

The preliminary investigation indicates a 2003, white Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound in the 6500 block of Loyola Ln. approaching the intersection of Loyola Ln. and Johnny Morris Rd. A 2003, gray Infiniti was traveling westbound in the 6600 block of Loyola Ln. approaching the same intersection. The Tundra began to turn left onto Johnny Morris Rd. and was t-boned by the Infiniti on the passenger side of the vehicle. All of the people involved in this crash were transported to a local hospital. At the time, it was not believed that any of the injuries were life-threatening, however the passenger in the Tundra died as a result of his injuries on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 7:44 p.m.   The driver of the Infiniti was cited for having no driver’s license.

Deceased:     Mark Evans | White male | 10/25/1969
Arrested:       Michael Boisse | White male | 45 years of age

The preliminary investigation indicates that the grey, 2017 Chrysler 300 driven by Michael Boisse was traveling northbound in the 8500 block of S. Congress Avenue when he attempted to turn left into the parking lot of a local business. A black, 2011 Infinity was southbound when the driver struck the 300 on the right-rear passenger side. Mark Evans, 50, was seated behind Michael Boisse and was directly impacted by the crash. Mark Evans was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas with life-threatening injuries where he died a short time later.   Michael Boisse underwent a standardized field sobriety test on scene. He was arrested and is charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Location:       1100 block of E. Ben White Blvd WB
Deceased:     Risean Deontay Lee Green | Black male | 10/16/1991
Arrested:     Amanda Overman, White female, 30 years of age

The preliminary investigation shows that Amanda Overman was driving a maroon, 2003 Honda CR-V westbound in the 1100 block of E. Ben White Blvd when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the center median. The vehicle ricocheted back into the roadway where it struck Risean Deontay Lee Green and the black and gold, 2009 Yamaha motorcycle he was riding.   Overman pulled into the shopping center located in the 700 block of E. Ben White Blvd at which time officers made contact with her. Officers conducted a DWI investigation on scene that indicated Amanda Overman was intoxicated.     Risean Deontay Lee Green was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He died there at approximately 7:44 p.m.   Amanda Overman has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

– Pedestrian vs Car

Location:       800 block of E. William Cannon Drive
Deceased:     James Lee Beasley | White male | 08/30/1964

The preliminary investigation shows James Lee Beasley was attempting to cross midblock in the 800 block of E. William Cannon Drive where there is no crosswalk when he was struck by a gold, 2006 Mercury Mariner that was traveling westbound on E. William Cannon and was in the process of a signaled lane change.   The section of the roadway where James Lee Beasley attempted to cross is heavily congested with vehicular traffic. There is no indication that driver impairment, speed, lighting conditions, or weather/road conditions played a factor.   Personnel from the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS attempted lifesaving measures, but James Beasley died on scene at approximately 7:38 p.m.

-Car vs Motorcycle (Speed)

Time:             7:05 p.m.
Location:       5800 block of Burnet Road
Deceased:     Matthew James Almasi | White male | 07/29/1993

The preliminary investigation shows that the blue, 2009 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle driven by Matthew James Almasi was traveling northbound in the outside lane of the 5800 block of Burnet Road at a high rate of speed. A gold, 1997 Honda Odyssey minivan was traveling southbound in the inside lane when the driver attempted to make a lefthand turn at which time the minivan and motorcycle collided.
Matthew James Almasi, who was not wearing a helmet or other personal protective gear, was thrown from his motorcycle. He was transported by Austin-Travis County EMS to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he succumbed to his wounds at approximately 8:30 p.m.   The driver of the minivan, who was uninjured in the crash, remained on scene and has been cooperating with investigators. He was issued a traffic citation for fail to yield right of way – left turn. The passenger in the van was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Location:       8200 block of E. US 290 Hwy Svrd EB
Deceased:     Damir Herrera Perez | Hispanic male | 01/29/1988

The preliminary investigation shows that the white, 2017 Chrysler 200 driven by Damir Hererra Perez was traveling eastbound in the 8200 block of E. US 290 Hwy Svrd at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed into a concrete pillar.    Damir Hererra Perez was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Location:       1100 block of E. 51st  St.
Deceased:      Rachelle Velin Covey, White female (D.O.B. 11-24-70)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2017, white Jeep Wrangler was traveling eastbound in the inside lane of E. 51st St. when it struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the roadway. The pedestrian, Rachelle Velin Covey, was not within a crosswalk and was attempting to cross five lanes of traffic in an area that is dimly lit. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges are expected to be filed at this time.  The pedestrian was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where she died later that evening as a result of his injuries.

Location:       1413 W. William Cannon Dr.
Deceased:      Armando Casares, Hispanic male (D.O.B. 1-6-85)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2017, white Lexus RX was traveling eastbound on William Cannon Dr. in the middle lane when the driver struck a pedestrian that was attempting to run across the roadway. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was attempting to cross mid-block over six lanes of traffic.   The driver of the Lexus stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges are expected to be filed at this time.   The pedestrian was transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital, but he died on November 13, 2019 as a result of his injuries.

Location:       4800 block of N IH 35 southbound service road
Deceased:     Juan Francisco Lugo, Hispanic male, (D.O.B. 11-17-88)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2006, blue Toyota Scion was traveling southbound in the 4800 block of the service road of IH 35 when it left the roadway to the right. The vehicle slid into a wooden utility pole. The driver of the Scion was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died a short time later.

Location:      10700 Burnet Road
Deceased:     Mary Grace Serrano, Hispanic female (D.O.B. 2-18-98)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2015, maroon Hyundai Sonata was traveling southbound on Burnet Rd. in the 10700 block. The vehicle left the roadway to the right, travelled into and out of a drainage ditch and landed upside down. The female passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.   The driver of the Sonata was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Location:      13600 West State Highway 45 Eastbound Exit Ramp
Deceased:     Christian Taylor Sharp, White male, (D.O.B. 2-19-91)

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2013, black BMW X6 was traveling eastbound on the State Highway 45 toll road. The vehicle exited in the 13600 block for Parmer Lane and approached the tollbooth. The vehicle left the roadway before reaching the tollbooth, crashed into a barrier wall head-on and caught fire.  The driver of the BMW was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Time:            11:32 a.m.
Location:      IH 35 northbound frontage road and Stassney Ln.
Deceased:    Lydia Quintanilla, Hispanic female, (D.O.B. 10-10-42)

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a 2005, white Toyota Sienna van was traveling northbound on the frontage road of IH 35, making a left turn onto Stassney Ln. to head westbound. The driver of a 2000, brown Chevrolet van was at the light facing westbound in the inside lane. The driver of a 2014, red Nissan Altima was also facing westbound at the light in the outside lane. The driver of the Chevrolet van and the Nissan Altima said their light turned green and the proceeded through the intersection. The front of the Toyota Sienna van struck the front left of the brown Chevrolet van and then struck the driver side of the Nissan Altima. The Toyota Sienna came to rest on a barrier and had significant front end damage.   The driver and passenger of the Toyota Sienna were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. On October 17, 2019, the passenger in the Toyota Sienna passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.

Deceased:     David Tienda | White male | 04/08/1996

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a white, 2015 Ford F250 was traveling westbound in the far right lane on William Cannon Drive while David Tienda was attempting to cross northbound on Emerald Forest Drive against the light in a motorized wheelchair. The truck, which had the green light, proceeded through the intersection and struck David Tienda. He was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries where he died on October 16, 2019.

The preliminary investigation shows that the silver, 2004 Dodge Durango driven by Carlos Asteven Alvarez-Recarte was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on IH-35 proper when the truck struck a light pole. Carlos Asteven Alvarez-Recarte and the passenger in the vehicle were both transported to an area hospital. Carlos Asteven Alvarez-Recarte succumbed to his injuries on October 4, 2019.

Location:      7200 block of Cameron Rd.
Deceased:    Mauricio Garcia, Hispanic male, (D.O.B. 9-20-61)

The preliminary investigation shows that a pedestrian was in the middle of the inside lane in the 7200 block of Cameron Rd. A white, 2012 Ford F-150 was heading northbound in the inside lane and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 58-year-old Mauricio Garcia.

Location:      7400 block S. IH-35 southbound proper
Deceased:    Hispanic male, 19 years of age

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2007 white, Ford Mustang was stopped in the center lane of southbound IH 35 in the 7400 block. A 2017 white, Peterbuilt Truck Tractor was traveling southbound in the center lane and struck the back of the Mustang. The driver of the Mustang was pronounced deceased on the scene.   The driver of the Peterbuilt Tractor Truck remained on scene and cooperated. No charges are expected to be filed at this time

Location:      600 block of E. Yager Ln.
Deceased:    Black male, 15 years of age

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2014, maroon Mazda 5 was traveling westbound in the 600 block of E. Yager Ln. A pedestrian was walking westbound in the middle of the road when he was struck by the Mazda. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.   The driver of the Mazda remained on scene and cooperated. No charges are expected to be filed at this time.

– Truck vs Car (Speeding)

Location:      E. Parmer Ln. and Dessau Rd.
Deceased:    Jessie Jay Woosley, White male, D.O.B. 1-28-96

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2003 orange Chevrolet Avalanche Pickup truck was traveling eastbound on E. Parmer Ln. and Dessau Rd. at a high rate of speed. A 2019 white Hyundai Elantra was turning left from E. Parmer Ln. onto Southbound Dessau Rd. with a protected green turn signal. The Avalanche ran the red light and struck the Elantra. The Avalanche then struck a metal pole on the Southeast corner of the intersection. The driver of the Avalanche was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver and passenger of the Elantra were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Location:      9000 block of S. Congress Avenue
Deceased:    Christian Livingston | White male | 01/09/1993
Arrested:      Debrah Callison | White female | 69 years of age

The preliminary investigation shows that the white, 2018 Toyota RAV-4 driven by Callison was traveling southbound in the outside lane in the 9000 block of S. Congress when she struck Christian Livingson. Mr. Livingston was walking in the roadway rather than on the east curb line sidewalk available to him. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Debrah Callison remained on scene. She was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DWI. There are no additional charges anticipated at this time.

Location:      Hwy 290 WB Service Road at Parmer Lane
Deceased:    Scott Remmenga | White male | 01/06/1965

The preliminary investigation shows that Scott Remmenga was riding a Honda Silverwing Motorcycle westbound on the 290 service road when the driver of a white, 2016 Toyota Tundra that was traveling parallel to the bike attempted to turn left from the wrong lane, striking Scott Remmenga. He was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died a short time later. The driver of the Tundra remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Location:      Hwy 290 WB at the 183 SB Flyover
Deceased:    Joe H. Ogg | White male | 06/19/1978

The preliminary investigation shows Joe H. Ogg was driving a red, 2001 Harley Davidson Motorcycle westbound on Hwy 290 to the southbound 183 flyover when he failed to negotiate the curve and struck a wall with the bike. Joe Ogg went over the wall, falling into the westbound lanes of 290 below. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

Deceased:    Jeanny Nunez-Noguera | Hispanic male | 07/26/1977

The preliminary investigation shows that Jeanny Nunez-Noguera was in the right lane in the 11400 block of N. IH-35 NB proper when he was struck by a red, 2016 Honda Civic.  The driver of the Honda Civic remained at the crash site and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges are expected to be filed.

Deceased:    Louis Chambers | Black male | 03/17/1967

The preliminary investigation shows that Louis Chambers was attempting to cross N. IH-35 SB in the 6500 block when he was struck by a green, 2011 Ford Focus that was traveling in the inside lane. Louis Chambers was pronounced deceased on scene.  The driver of the Ford Focus remained at the crash site and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges are expected to be filed.

Location:      1500 N. IH 35 Southbound
Deceased:    Unidentified

The preliminary investigation shows that a pedestrian was attempting to cross the 1500 block of N. IH 35 from west to east. A semi tractor-trailer and multiple other vehicles struck the pedestrian. The driver of the tractor-trailer remained on scene and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

– Car vs Motorcycle (Intoxicated Manslaughter)

Location:      9200 Metric Blvd.
Arrested:      Dionnet Suarez De La Cruz, Hispanic male, 34 years of age
Deceased:    Felipe Ramirez, Hispanic male, born 9-16-93

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling northbound in the 9200 block of Metric Blvd. and a 2018, black Toyota Camry was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Metric Blvd. The Camry crashed head-on into the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene. The driver of the Camry was arrested for DWI and Intoxication Manslaughter.

Location:     10214 N. IH 35 southbound service road
Deceased:    Hispanic male, 54 years of age

The preliminary investigation shows that a 1999, blue Pontiac was traveling southbound on the frontage road near the 10200 block of N. IH 35 when it left the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle went through a business parking lot and struck a parked vehicle and a pallet of landscaping stones before coming to rest against a business building. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The front seat passenger was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Anthony Wayne Washington was riding a bicycle eastbound on the Ben White Blvd. service road when he ran a red light and crossed over into the southbound lanes of the S. IH-35 service road. The driver of a silver, 2017 Chevrolet Cruz was driving in the far left lane of the IH-35 service road when she saw Mr. Washington enter the intersection. She honked to alert him while attempting to stop in time, but he crashed into her vehicle.    Anthony Wayne Washington was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.    The driver of the Chevrolet Cruz remained on scene. No charges are expected to be filed.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Anthony Ukadibia was leaving the apartment complex located at 515 E. Slaughter Lane in a silver, 2007 Honda Odyssey. As he approached the roadway to make a left, he honked at the vehicle waiting in front of him. When the vehicle didn’t move, Mr. Ukadibia drove around and attempted to cross eastbound Slaughter Lane. He failed to yield right of way and was struck on the driver’s side by an eastbound white, 2000 Mercury 4-door. Anthony Ukadibia, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and subsequently struck by a 2011 Ford F-150. He was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center by Austin-Travis County EMS where he succumbed to his injuries.
The drivers of the Mercury and the Ford remained on scene. No charges are expected to be filed.

The preliminary investigation yielded testimony from witnesses who reported seeing the BMW motorcycle driven by Cedric Benson traveling at a high rate of speed westbound in the left lane of FM 2222. A white, 2014 Dodge van was stopped at the T-intersection of Mount Bonnell Road and FM 2222. After checking for oncoming traffic, the van attempted to turn left on to FM 2222 when it was struck by the oncoming motorcycle.   The driver of the van was evaluated by EMS on scene and refused transport. The passenger of the van and a bystander at the scene attempted to render aid to Mr. Benson and his passenger Aamna Najam. Cedric Benson and Aamna Najam were both pronounced on scene.  The van driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.  According to the autopsy’s toxicology report, Benson tested positive for 43 ng/mL tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, which is the main psychoactive compound in marjuana.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2010, red Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2014, silver Chevrolet Malibu were driving northbound in the 3500 block of Montopolis at a very high rate of speed. The Tahoe hit the back of the Impala and lost control, leaving the roadway. The Tahoe spun and hit bushes on the LCRA property located at 3505 Montopolis Drive. It continued across the parking lot, striking a tree and coming to rest by the loading dock of the building. The back seat passenger, Josephine Guerra, was ejected during the crash and pronounced deceased at the scene at 5:26 a.m.  The driver of the Tahoe and two other passengers fled the scene on foot.

The driver of the Malibu is cooperating with this open and ongoing investigation.

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a black, 2014 Jeep Patriot was traveling eastbound in the inside lane of the 1800 block of W. Parmer Lane when he attempted to take evasive action to stop from striking a Hyundai Veloster that was stopped at the red light at Metric Boulevard. The Jeep clipped the back of the Veloster before jumping the curb of the inside median that divides east and westbound Parmer Lane, striking Derril Glen Lovelace who was standing on the narrow concrete strip. The driver of the Jeep also collided with a silver, 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer and a grey, 2015 Subaru Forester that were traveling westbound on W. Parmer Lane.    Derril Glen Lovelace was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Subaru Forester was transported to the St. David’s North Austin Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 8:32 p.m.  Excessive speed is not considered to be a factor, and Anderson was not wearing a helmet.

The Austin Police Department recently released updated details on a July 7 crash in the 4600 block of East Ben White Boulevard, which resulted in the death of Leslie Valderrama, whose birthday was the next day.  According to APD, Leslie Valderrama, 27, was riding inside the 2012 Nissan Altima that was traveling westbound on East Ben White Boulevard before the car rear-ended a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. Several involved in the wreck received injuries, but Valderrama and another man were transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital, and Valderrama was pronounced dead at 3:27 a.m.

Palacios’ truck was overturned and hit a guard rail.  Guadalupe Padilla Palacios was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on June 9, 2019.

Cesar Saunders was also transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries at 1:14 a.m.

The driver of the Elantra, Patrick Leonard Ervin, died at the scene. The driver of the Camry was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Before officers arrived, the calls changed to a head-on crash. A 2008 white Hyundai Elantra hit the Yukon head on.  The driver of the Elantra, Chiristian Barrios, died at the scene.  The driver and passenger of the Yukon were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both occupants of the Yukon were wearing seatbelts.

Road rage might have led to a deadly hit-and-run Saturday in Southeast Austin, police said.  Eric Walz, 33, was driving at the intersection of South Pleasant Valley Road and Stassney Lane when he exited his vehicle at 10:40 a.m. and approached another driver, police said. Police did not say why Walz stepped out of his car.  The other driver then struck Walz and accelerated, launching Walz over the hood of the car, police said. The driver — who did not call police — left the scene, leaving Walz on the ground, police said.

The pedestrian was struck by a dark colored, small SUV or truck as he was running across Lamar towards the bus stop. The vehicle continued to travel northbound on Lamar and fled the scene. The pedestrian was transported the Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he died upon arrival. The suspect vehicle possibly has damage to its right, front end.

The Ford F-150 and Honda collided causing the truck to strike a concrete support column.  Leon Rogelio Andres Salmeron was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Honda fled the scene on foot. That individual, once identified, will be charged with failure to stop and render aid.

The Chevrolet truck hit the Hyundai on the driver’s side. The driver of the Hyundai was transported to South Austin Hospital where she died a short time later.

A 2008, gray Ford Mustang was traveling westbound in the inside lane and attempted to avoid the 4Runner but struck its front end. The Mustang continued into eastbound lanes of traffic and was struck by a 2013, maroon Dodge Ram.

The driver of the Mustang was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a white, 2018 Isuzu conventional truck was traveling northbound in the 1100 block of Jollyville road, approaching the intersection of Balcones Woods Dr. A white, 2015 Cadillac XTS was traveling westbound on Balcones Woods Dr. The Isuzu failed to control speed and entered the intersection striking the Cadillac on the driver’s side. The Isuzu continued across the intersection and struck the front of a gray, 2013 Mazda sedan who was facing south on Jollyville Rd.   The driver of the Cadillac, Michael Cannatti, was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a tan, 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling northbound in the 5600 block of S. Congress Avenue. The truck was in the far right lane, getting ready to move into the turn lane to head east on Stassney Ln. The pedestrian was crossing from westbound to eastbound, mid-block, about 150 feet from a controlled crosswalk. The driver of the truck did not see the pedestrian prior to impact. The pedestrian, James Bourgeois, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver remained on scene and there were no signs of impairment.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the 2010, blue Honda driven by Wing Chou was travelling eastbound in the 14000 block of N. SH-45 when he lost control and slid into a concrete barrier before rear-ending a parked Austin Fire Department apparatus truck. The AFD vehicle’s emergency lights were activated as it was partially blocking a lane of traffic to help protect a wrecker driver who was loading up a vehicle that had been involved in a separate collision.    Austin firefighters extracted Mr. Chou and his passenger. They were both transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where Chou later died from his injuries. The passenger in the vehicle had serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Heatherwilde Boulevard when Ms. Jaggers veered left and struck the curb of the center media, going airborne. The vehicle rolled for several yards before stopping in the intersection. The driver was ejected. Hanna Jaggers was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries on April 4, 2019.

Slaughter Lane when he attempted to turn left and collided with a 1996 Chevrolet truck that was traveling westbound. Mr. Davis was attempting to enter the apartment complex on the south side of the road when he failed to yield right of way. The truck made contact with the passenger side of the Forester, killing both the driver and passenger, Keaton Carnley. There were no other occupants in the Subaru. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries. All parties were wearing their seatbelts. No charges are expected to be filed.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2013, blue Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on Teri Rd. approaching Palo Blanco Ln. A 2010, gold Toyota Venza was traveling northbound on Palo Blanco, turning left onto Teri Rd. The Ram hit the Venza on the left side. All occupants of the Ram fled on foot. All occupants of the Venza were transported to Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. The juvenile female, Illianna Martinez, died on March 30, 2019 at 4:26 p.m.  Police said Jorge A. Granados, 22, was arrested in the Louisiana city of Slidell on April 16 after fleeing from the scene of the wreck.  He will be extradited to Austin to stand trial, currently facing a charge of failure to stop and render aid, a second-degree felony.

The driver showed no signs of impairment and no charges are expected.   The pedestrian, Earnest Turner, was pronounced deceased on March 30, 2019 at 4:20 p.m.

The bicyclist, Jessica Rae Saathoff, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where she died a short time later.  The driver of the Toyota remained on scene. No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.

The preliminary investigation shows a white, 2000 Lexus RX300 was traveling eastbound on East 7th Street when the driver ran a red light and struck a grey, 2004 Volkswagen Golf moving northbound on Springdale Road. The force of the impact caused both the Lexus and Volkswagen to also strike a white, 2019 Jeep Cherokee that was stopped at the red light. The driver of the Volkswagen Golf, Javier Emanuel Niño Esparza, was pronounced deceased at the scene.   The driver of the Lexus, Duane Harris, 29, was transported to a local hospital for treatment following the crash as were two other occupants from the vehicle. Harris has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The motorcycle, driven by Trevor Ralston, struck the right side of the Mini Cooper.   Trevor Ralston was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Mini Cooper remained at the crash location and was cited for failure to control speed.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2006 silver Volkswagen Jetta operated by an Uber driver was traveling southbound in the right lane of N. IH-35 southbound on the service road. The Jetta changed lanes to enter the ramp of southbound IH 35 when it encountered a Lime scooter. The pedestrian on the scooter was traveling the wrong way, northbound in the southbound left lane of the IH-35 service road. The pedestrian was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas. He was pronounced deceased at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019. The Uber driver remained on scene and is cooperating as this investigation continues.   The toxicology results in this case are still pending.

The driver remained at the scene and told investigators that he did not see Servantez prior to the crash.
Jesus Servantez was transported to Saint David’s South Austin Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries on January 21, 2019. No charges are expected to be filed.

The Jetta collided with a black, 2017 Chevrolet truck that was eastbound in the inside lane of West William Cannon Drive.  Bottenfield-Seago was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger in the Jetta and the driver of the truck were both transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  No charges are expected to be filed.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2000 Peterbilt semi truck was travelling southbound in the center lane on IH 35 when it struck pedestrian David Sell. The driver stopped as soon as it was possible to do so and remained on scene. He reported not seeing the pedestrian prior to impact given that it was still dark at the time of the crash. Sell was pronounced deceased at the scene at 6:24 a.m. No charges are expected to be filed.


Greater Austin 2019 Traffic Fatality Crashes:

Pflugerville – December 28, 2019 – An Austin man died in a traffic collision on northbound SH 130 in Pflugerville, officials confirmed on Friday.  Police were alerted to the Dec. 28 wreck at 3:16 p.m., officials said in an advisory emailed to Patch. Upon arrival, police saw that a 28-year-old man from Austin had died after his vehicle collided with a semi-truck trailer.

(93) Williamson County – December 23, 2019 – A 17-year-old motorcyclist, Travis Justin Miller of Granger, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Texas 95 about four miles south of Granger.  The crash on Monday night at the 600 block of south State Highway 95 has traffic shut down at Farm-to-Market Road 1331.  Miller was driving a 1986 Kawasaki motorcycle north on Texas 95 when he was hit at 8 p.m. by the driver of a 2018 Dodge Challenger who was turning left on Texas 95 from FM 1331, the report said.  It said the driver of the Dodge failed to yield the right of way.

(92) San Marcos – December 23, 2019 – San Marcos police released the name of a pedestrian who died after being hit by multiple vehicles on Interstate 35 Monday.  Bonnie Terraciano, 46, was trying to cross I-35 just north of Aquarena Springs Drive at around 6 a.m. when she was struck by several vehicles, according to a preliminary investigation by police.  No charges are expected to be filed against the drivers.  This death marked the 12th traffic fatality in San Marcos for 2019.

(91) Hays County – December 18, 2019 –Austin-Travis County EMS medics say two people are dead after two vehicles crashed near Circle C Ranch.  Medics responded at 3:29 p.m. to the 12700 block of RM 1826, which is close to the border between Travis and Hays counties and near the intersection of Mopac Boulevard and Texas 45.  Texas Department of Public Safety identified the dead as Kaylee Rosales, 30, and Caranda Mathis, 38. Both were drivers.

(89) Travis County – December 6, 2019 –   Police have identified a man killed in a crash near the “Y” in Oak Hill in South Austin on Friday morning.  Cody Allen Faust, 27, was killed after his Toyota Camry crossed into the opposite lanes and struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on just before 7 a.m.

(88) Round Rock – December 6, 2019 – DPS identified the two drivers who were killed in a two-vehicle collision just south of Round Rock last week.  Marie Blanton, 21, of Round Rock, and Evay Jenkins, a 41-year-old man from Austin, were killed in a crash just after midnight last week at 1540 FM 1325, according to DPS.

(86) Blanco County – November 26, 2019 – DPS identities of the victims in a fatal crash that happened on U.S. Highway 281 near Johnson City at 6:51 am on Tuesday morning. A Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on US 281 near mile post 470 when — for unknown reasons — the vehicle crossed over the double solid yellow lines and hit a Toyota that was traveling northbound. The driver of the Ford has been identified as 36-year-old Larry Waxler, of Burnet, and the driver of the Toyota has been identified as 39-year-old Phelan Hill, of New Braunfels. Both were declared dead at the scene.

A woman was hit and killed in Killeen after she got out of her car to help a motorcyclist who had just been hit by a car.  The fatal crash happened at the intersection of 38th Street and Water Street around 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21.  Police said that a motorcyclist was traveling in the outside lane of 38th Street approaching Water Street, when a maroon 2013 Chevy Impala, traveling southbound in the center turning lane failed to yield right of way to the motorcycle causing it to strike the right rear quarter panel of the Chevy.

(84) Round Rock – November 17, 2019 – Three people who were killed in a crash late Sunday in Round Rock have been identified as 20-year-old Vincent Price, 58-year-old Christa Weger and 19-year-old Julie Weger. Price’s vehicle was moving east on RM 1431 near Interstate 35 when it crossed into the westbound lanes of the road, police said.  He hit the vehicle carrying Christa and Julie Weger. A third vehicle then crashed into Price’s vehicle, police said.

(81) Travis County – November 17, 2019 – A man has been accused of drunken driving and causing a crash that killed two people. A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper responded to the intersection of Colfax and North Imperial drives in eastern Travis County on Sunday around 9:12 p.m. for a crash involving two vehicles and six people, an arrest affidavit says.   40-year-old Jose Cabrieles and 15-year-old Jose A. Cabrieles-Montoya, were pronounced dead.   According to DPS, Casique-Patino was driving a black Dodge pickup west on Colfax Drive and the other vehicle was traveling north on North Imperial Drive.  The evidence on the roadway showed Casique-Patino failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the passenger car.  Casique-Patino was charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle.

(79) Williamson County – November 15, 2019 – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office closed lanes of traffic on a portion of U.S. Highway 183 after a fatal crash north of Leander Friday morning.  The department tweeted about the crash at 8:30 a.m. They said it happened on US 183 north of Farm to Market Road 970.

(78)San Marcos – Novemeber 14, 2019 – San Marcos police reported a fatal crash southbound Interstate Highway 35 in San Marcos Thursday morning.  Police say 29-year-old Orlando Valdez and 21-year-old Dana Watson were driving home from an event in Austin around 2:45 a.m. when they were rear-ended by a dump truck.  Valdez was pronounced dead at the scene and Watson was taken to the Central Texas Medical Center to be treated for her injuries. She was pronounced deceased soon after.  Investigators say Valdez was either stopped or driving slowly in the far right lane when the dump truck collided with his vehicle.

(77) Williamson County – November 6, 2019 –  A fatal crash occurred Wednesday morning on Texas 195 near County Road 241, north of Georgetown, said Williamson County sheriff’s office officials. One person died.

(76) Cedar Park – November 4, 2019 – A driver hit and killed a 73-year-old woman earlier this week in a Walmart parking lot in Cedar Park, police said.  Juanita Lopez died in the hospital Tuesday morning after she was hit Monday afternoon, Cedar Park police said.  “Based on our initial investigation, we believe this was a slow-speed accident,” police said.

(75) Travis County – November 2, 2019 – (Pedestrain) –  DPS is looking for a driver after a fatal hit and run near Circuit of the Americas on Sunday.  According to DPS, 36-year-old Martin Friedrich Ross, of California, was walking across FM 812 from COTA when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. DPS believes Ross was attending the Formula One race at the Austin track.  DPS said they are looking for a blue or teal colored Ford F150 connected to the hit-and-run.

(74) Taylor – November 1, 2019 – A woman and her grandson died in a three-vehicle crash in Taylor Friday nigh around 8:30 p.m. on the 1100 block of South Main Street. Authorities said Pflugerville resident Glenda Louise Werth, 59, was driving a 2009 Honda Van north bound on south Main Street when she stopped the vehicle and began backing the vehicle up in reverse. Hunter Werth, 20-month-old, was a passenger in the vehicle.  Aa 2008 Toyota SUV struck the Honda van from behind, causing the van to enter the southbound lane into incoming traffic. The vehicle was then struck head-on by a 2006 Chevrolet truck .  Glenda Louise was pronounced dead on the scene, authorities said. The 20-month-old was taken to Dell Children’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

(72) Williamson County – November 1, 2019 – Williamson County deputies responded to a fatal crash involving an 18-wheeler on State Highway 95 near County Road 387 Friday night, according to officials. Deputies shut down one lane of traffic at around 8 p.m. after the accident, according to a tweet from Williamson County deputies.  The other vehicle involved in the crash was a pickup truck, deputies said.

(71) Williamson County – November 1, 2019 – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said a person died in a single vehicle crash late Friday night. The sheriff’s office responded to the incident at the 5900 block of FM 112 outside of Taylor around 9:40 p.m.  WCSO tweeted early Saturday morning the crash had resulted in the death of a person who WCSO said was ejected from the car.

(70) Travis County – October 27, 2019 –  A person died and four others injured in an overnight traffic wreck in North Austin. The incident occurred along the 5600 block of North FM 620 Road just after 2 a.m. on Sunday. A man was pronounced dead at the scene, and four other adult patients were transported to Round Rock Medical Center with injuries.

(69) Bee Caves – October 20, 2019 –  A 19-year-old is dead and another teen was seriously injured after a multi-car crash in Bee Cave late Sunday night. Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the crash in the 3500 block of Ranch Road 620 South at 9:45 p.m. The crash happened at the intersection with Falcon Head Road. The 19-year-old driver was identified as Bryson Brown.

(68) Leander – October 16, 2019 (Pedestrian) – Leander police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Monday night where a pedestrian was hit by a car on Horizon Park Boulevard.  Police say the crash occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Horizon Park Boulevard north of East Crystal Falls Parkway. A woman was driving southbound in a gray Ford pickup when she hit a man who was laying on the road.  Emergency medics immediately took the man to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where he was declared deceased.

(67) Hays County – October 14, 2019 –  A woman was killed in a head-on collision with a semi on Farm to Market Road 973 Monday morning.  DPS  says a Freightliner was headed east when the driver said his tires went off the road and he lost control, driving into the oncoming lane and hitting Geraldine Wilcox Hylander in her Chevy Impala. The crash happened at 10:15 a.m. about five miles west of Buda, where the 80-year-old woman was from.

(66) Wimberley – October 8, 2019 – On Wednesday, the Hays Co. Sheriff’s Office reported to the scene of a fatal crash near the Deerlakes Estates and FM 3237 intersection in Wimberley.   The crash happened about four miles north of Wimberley at 12:07 p.m. Texas DPS says only one vehicle was involved and its driver, 34-year-old Christopher Bostick, was pronounced dead at the scene.

(65) Bastrop – Oct 6, 2019 – (Pedestrian) – Savannah Faith Rivas, a 4-year-old girl died after being hit by a vehicle in Bastrop on Sunday evening.  Bastrop police responded to the 2200 block of Texas 95, near the intersection of Linden and Hill streets in North Bastrop, around 5:31 p.m. The girl was in a parking lot and was in front of a parked vehicle. The driver of the vehicle pulled forward and hit the girl from behind, police said.  Police said the girl was in a parking lot and was in front of a parked vehicle. The driver of the vehicle pulled forward and hit Rivas from behind. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

(64) Liberty Hill – October 3, 2019 (Motorcycle) – A motorcyclist died after crashing Thursday night in Liberty Hill, according to Williamson County sheriff’s officials. The crash happened just before 8 p.m. on CR 288, which will be closed for an extended period of time, sheriff’s officials said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

(63) San Marcos – September 20, 2019 –  (Motorcycle) — Police suspect speed played a role in a fatal motorcycle crash at about 12:02 a.m. in the 300 block of West Hopkins in San Marcos. The driver has been identified as 37-year-old Brandon Heath Gutierrez, of New Braunfels.  Gutierrez was driving his 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600 Motorcycle towards the square on West Hopkins. He appears to have traveled into the oncoming traffic lane, and lost control of the motorcycle due to excessive speed.

(62) Pflugerville – September 12, 2019 – (Bicycle) – An 88-year-old man died five days after a vehicle struck him on his bicycle in Pflugerville.  A spokesperson with the City of Pflugerville confirmed that Thi Ho died on Sept. 17. The crash happened in a crosswalk near 10th Street and Settlers Valley Drive at about 7 a.m. on Sept. 12.

(61) San Marcos – September 6, 2019 –  (Motorcycle) – San Marcos police are investigating a single-car accident that occurred on Post Road early Friday morning and ended in the death of a 30-year-old man.  Justin David Malott was pronounced dead on the scene at the 1800 block of Post Road.  San Marcos police say Malott was driving his 2018 Harley Davidson Motorcycle northbound on Post before he left the roadway to the right and hit a tree.

– Sarah Marie Gee, 31, of San Marcos, died after authorities say she crossed a double-yellow line around 7 p.m. while riding a motorized scooter Sunday and hit a flatbed trailer just north of San Marcos, near the intersection of Post Road and Booth Drive.  Driver of the trailer has not been cited for a moving violation or charged with a crime.

– Martel Tamar Sanders, 41,  of Hillsboro was killed in San Marcos on Friday, August 2 . San Marcos Police Dept said Sanders was driving a black 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on I-35, near Wonder World Drive Exit 202, around 4 p.m. as traffic was slowing in front of him.  His motorcycle rear-ended the vehicle.  This is the sixth traffic fatality in San Marcos this year.

(58) Bastrop County –  July 20, 2019 — Christa Leanne Reid, 28, died in a head-on collision on North Pope Bend Road on July 20 as she was heading to work at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort.  As she drove northbound in a Hyundai Elantra on North Pope Bend Road, navigating the bends and hills along the roadway, Reid struck an SUV head-on.

(57) Travis County –  July 14, 2019 — A crash in southeastern Travis County left one man dead and two children injured Sunday afternoon, according to EMS.  Medics said the crash occurred just west of the Circuit of the Americas raceway, near the intersection of FM 812 and FM 973.  The man was said to be in his 30s, EMS said. The two children were taken to Dell Children’s Medical Center.

(56) San Marcos –  June 25, 2019 – (Pedestrian) – A 30-year-old woman was struck and killed after walking into traffic early Tuesday in San Marcos. The woman has been identified as Katherine Arcillia Morgan, who is from San Marcos.  Police responded at 12:38 a.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Aquarena Springs Drive and Thorpe Lane.   Authorities said she had been hit by a Chevrolet pickup, which had driven through a green light at the intersection and had no time to react after Morgan walked directly into traffic.

(55) Travis County –  June 22, 2019 – (Pedestrian) – At approximately 10 p.m. on June 22, emergency crews responded to a fatal crash at the intersection of South US 183 and FM 1625.  43-year-old Juan Desaniago Jr. was walking north along FM 1625 when he was struck by a motor vehicle. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene without stopping.   Desaniago Jr. sustained fatal injuries in the incident and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

(54) Georgetown – June 13, 2019 —  18-year-old Jairo Garcia died after he was ejected from a car full of teens in a crash in Georgetown on June 12 shortly before 11 a.m.  Police said a 17-year-old was driving along State Highway 130 with four other teens in her car traveling at a high rate of speed when she attempted to make a lane change to pass a slower vehicle on the road. The driver of the slower moving car saw the teen approaching quickly from behind and tried to move out of the left lane of traffic. Three of the teens in the car weren’t wearing seat belts and were ejected from the car, the city said.

(53) Lee County  — May 28, 2019 —  LEE COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX)-  Four children dies Wednesday in a Lee County crash involving two semi-trucks and a car. One other child and an adult are in critical condition.  It happened about 7 miles south of Giddings on Highway 77.  DPS said all the victims were in a car that was northbound on SH 77 around 3:45 p.m. when the driver attempted to avoid hitting a jackknifed 18-wheeler in the roadway.  The car ended up hitting another semi-truck behind the jackknifed semi. In the car were the 5 children and the driver all from Giddings.   DPS says they are identified as: Sabian Castro, 2; Daniella Castro, 3; Trenton Wright, 7; Lillian Castro, 13.

(49) Williamson County  — May 28, 2019 —   One person was killed in a collision Tuesday morning.  According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to collision involving three vehicles in the 6200 block of East Highway 29 around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.

(48) Travis County  — May 24, 2019 —   One man is dead after a crash on U.S. 290 West in southwestern Travis County near Cedar Valley after a collision early Friday between a vehicle and an 18-wheeler killed one man on the highway near Shallowford Drive.  Medics responded to the 9900 block of U.S. 290 around 1:05 a.m. and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

(47) Travis County  — May 13, 2019 —   Manor resident 34-year-old Corey Harrison Rives was riding his 1996 Harley Davison FDX north on the State Highway 130 toll road near Farm-to-Market 969.  Investigators say he was speeding and rear-ended a utility being towed by a semi-truck.  The collision occurred between a motorcycle and a vehicle on the Texas 130 toll road late Monday at 11:42 p.m.

(46) Williamson County  — May 12, 2019 — Michael Lynn Wilson, 53, was pronounced dead at 1:47 p.m. following a roll over crash on Sunday, DPS said. Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and State Troopers responded to the crash in the area of the 3000 block of CR 303 east of Jarrell.  A preliminary crash report shows he was driving south on CR 303 and drove off the roadway onto the shoulder, went sideways through a wired fence and flipped over.

(45) Taylor  — May 9, 2019 — An 18-year-old Taylor woman was killed after the pickup she was a passenger in lost control, struck a guardrail and fell 30 feet off a bridge Thursday evening, police said.  Kayla Lynn Wuensche of Taylor died at the scene in the 2300 block of Welsh St. The driver of the truck was injured.  Police were notified at 6:53 p.m. Thursday.

(44) Lockhart  — May 9, 2019 — One person died and another was hospitalized Thursday morning after a crash on Texas 130 north of Lockhart involving an 18-wheeler and several motorcycles. DPS said the crash happened on the toll road around 10:04 a.m. Five others were also involved in the crash but were not injured, he said.  Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the crash.

(43) San Marcos — May 2, 2019 — A man died Friday night after San Marcos police say he lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 35 while it was raining. Authorities said he crashed into a concrete divider on the highway and then was struck by a truck. Police identified the victim Saturday morning as 58-year-old Pedro Roman-Abarca, who is from New Braunfels.  Roman-Abarca was headed south on I-35 near the Texas 123 overpass about 10:45 p.m. and passed a Ford truck that was in the center lane of the highway. Roman-Abarca then lost control of his vehicle, struck the concrete divider and spun back into traffic in the path of the truck.

(42 ) Travis County — May 1, 2019 — A 40-year-old Pflugerville man died in a two-vehicle wreck that left another person injured Wednesday night half a mile north of Pflugerville on FM 685, DPS said.  Joshua Nachlas, who was driving a 2016 Mazda, died at the scene, the report said.  Nachlas was driving north in a southbound lane of FM 685 when he collided head-on with a Jeep at 10:24 p.m. Wednesday.

(41 ) Travis County — April 30, 2019 — One man was killed and five people hurt after a rollover wreck Tuesday morning in southwestern Travis County on U.S. 290 near Fitzhugh Road.  Medics pulled out two people who were trapped in the wreckage.  Three people were taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, including one with critical injuries and two with serious injuries but they were not expected to be life-threatening, medics said.

(40) Kyle  — April 27, 2019 — Sisters Hayden Weissman, 18, and Peyton Weissman, 16, died at the scene of the crash in Kyle  near the intersection of Windy Hill Road and northbound Interstate 35 frontage road. They were in the car with their dad, his girlfriend and another sister.   Kyle police responded to the crash around 9:20 p.m. Saturday night.   Police said a Honda sedan carrying five people was hit by a pickup. Police said the driver of the truck, identified as 61-year-old Macario M. Hernandez, fled the scene on foot. Hernandez was charged with two counts of accident causing death and three counts of accident causing serious bodily injury. Additional charges could be added pending the results of toxicology tests, police said. Police said both teens who died were wearing seat belts.

(38 ) Marble Falls   — April 26, 2019 – (Motorcycle) —A Marble Falls police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash on the way to work early Friday, April 26, according to the City of Marble Falls.  The fallen officer has been identified as Officer Andrew Howe, 36, from Leander.  According to the DPS, Howe was going at a high rate of speed around a curve when he was thrown off of his motorcycle.

(37 ) Cedar Park   — April 26, 2019  —  A 28-year-old man has died after Cedar Park police said he drove the wrong way down a busy street.  The Cedar Park Police Department said that around 1:20 a.m. on Friday, April 26, Lawrence Jerell White was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of East Whitestone Boulevard before crashing into another car. The crash took place at about 1:20 a.m. Friday at 300 East Whitestone Boulevard.  The other driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

(36 ) San Marcos  — April 21, 2019 — San Marcos police said a 27-year-old driver, Juan Martinez, was killed after he crashed his stolen vehicle into an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35 South early Sunday.  Police said Juan Martinez stole a 2008 Audi A4.  The vehicle’s owner used a friend’s vehicle to follow Martinez toward I-35, police said.  Officers responded to the crash, near McCarty Lane in Southwest San Marcos, around 1:54 a.m.

(35 ) Round Rock  — April 17, 2019 – (Pedestrian)— A man died following a hit and run crash in Round Rock on Wednesday, April 17.  Police say the victim, identified as 24-year-old Clevland Deshon Elliott, was walking near Gattis School Road in between 12:30 and 1:45 a.m., when he was struck by a vehicle. Round Rock police are looking for any information regarding a suspect in a hit-and-run early Wednesday morning.

(34) Kyle — April 7, 2019 ( Motorcycle) — A motorcyclist who died Sunday night in Kyle in a collision with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35 South has been identified as 41-year-old Edward Ortiz Jr.  The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of the highway, near Kyle Crossing, north of downtown Kyle.  Preliminary crash investigation indicates the motorcycle driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he hit a trailer in front of him, police said.

(33) Leander — April 6, 2019 — A 36-year-old woman died Saturday morning after a car crash in Leander, police said.  Police were called to the intersection of Ronald Reagan Boulevard and FM 2243 at 9:50 a.m.  Police said a 46-year-old man was driving a Ford SUV southbound on Ronald Reagan when he struck the woman’s Ford SUV, which was traveling east on F.M. 2243.

(32) Round Rock — April 4, 2019 —  Round Rock police have identified a man who was killed in a crash on Interstate 35 North Thursday afternoon as 67-year-old Michael Shaheen.  The crash happened around 4 p.m. on the northbound lanes of the highway near the exit for U.S. 79, Round Rock Police Assistant Chief Willie Richards said. The victim’s vehicle struck a wall and came to rest in the median, he said. No other vehicles were involved.

(31) Pflugerville — April 4, 2019 — Pflugerville Police responded to a multi-vehicle wreck on southbound SH 130 just north of Pecan Street on Thursday morning that left one person dead.  According to Pflugerville police, three large trucks and three cars crashed in the southbound lanes of SH 130 just north of Pecan Street at around 10:15 a.m.  One person was transported to the hospital, and police confirmed the fatality.

(30) McDade — March 30, 2019 — On Saturday afternoon, two people were killed along U.S. 290, two miles east of McDade, when John Bullard, 60, drove his 2004 Cadillac Deville on the wrong side of the highway and hit a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe, according to DPS. Bullard, a Killeen man, as well as the driver of the Santa Fe, 57-year-old Ellen Winkler from Cypress, were found dead at the scene, DPS said.

(28) Bastrop — March 29, 2019 — Updated — DPS has obtained an arrest warrant for Juan Hernandez Jr., 19, for causing the fatal crash by texting while driving, court records show. A search of his cell phone showed that he made a Face Time video call about 3 minutes before the crash and sent text messages about 1 to 2 minutes before the crash, according to investigators.  “Based on the fact pattern, it is probable Hernandez was using his cell phone to read, write or send an electronic message while operating a motor vehicle,” police said.   Four teens were killed.  Peyton Irwin, 19; Tiffany Williams, 17; Michael Williams, 15; and Danielle Williams, 12, died in the crash. The driver of the vehicle, Pamela Williams, 53, survived the crash after she was flown to Dell Seton Medical Center.  All five were from Huntsville and were headed to a national drill team competition in San Antonio. Hernandez and his passenger both survived the crash.  The crash occurred around 8:50 p.m. near the intersection of Texas 21 and Quarter Horse Loop. When questioned by police, Hernandez told investigators that Williams failed to yield right-of-way and turned in front of him.The crash happened around 9 p.m. on Texas 21 about halfway between the communities of Bastrop and Paige.

(24) Buda — March 28, 2019 — Phillip Lee Taylor, 40, of Mountain City, was killed in a wreck that occurred around 9:30 p.m. Thursday along FM 2770 near Buda.  Said DPS, a 2016 Jeep Wrangler was traveling south on FM 2770 when it drifted off of the west side of the road and struck a culvert.  The vehicle then rolled over, ejecting the driver who was not wearing a seatbelt.

(23) Austin — March 27, 2019 —One person is dead after a car chase that ended in Northeast Austin, Austin police said.  Police were notified by the Williamson County sheriff’s office around 1:30 a.m. that a pursuit was headed south on Interstate 35 North and into Austin. The chase ended in a crash at the intersection of Bethune Avenue and East St. Johns Avenue, near the intersection of I-35 and U.S. 183.

(22) Bastrop — March 26, 2019 ( Motorcycle) — David Highfill died after police say he drove his silver Suzuki Forenza from the westbound lanes of Texas 71, crossed the median, and into oncoming traffic just east of the Colorado River bridge in Bastrop around 2 pm Monday, striking a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck.  The driver of the Suzuki was found dead on arrival.

(21) Travis County — March 26, 2019 – (Motorcycle) — Eduardo Ernesto Benedetto, 44, of Round Rock, crashed and flew over a guardrail around 1:30 a.m. on RM 620, about 2 miles southwest of Austin. He fell on a rock embankment on the northbound side of RM 620.  After he fell, the motorcycle continued traveling on the road until it struck the guardrail a second time, shot back across the roadway through the center turn lane and both southbound lanes, and struck the guardrail on the other side, DPS officials said.  He died on the scene.

(20) Florence — March 26, 2019 — (Pedestrian) –  One person is dead after an auto pedestrian crash in Williamson County.  The crash happened in the 6800 block of SH 195 near Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Florence a few minutes after 5 a.m.

(19) Bastrop — March 24, 2019 — (Pedestrian) – Justin York, 41, was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of Texas 71 just before 9 p.m. Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle near the highway’s intersection with Schaefer Boulevard.

(18) Bastrop — March 23, 2019 — On Saturday about 4 p.m., a man was driving a grey Mustang eastbound on Texas 21 when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed over the center line and into oncoming traffic, striking a blue Subaru Outback, DPS said.   First responders found the Mustang on fire and the driver dead.

(17) New Braunfels — March 23, 2019 — (Motorcycle) – One person was killed in a motorcycle crash in New Braunfels.  According to the New Braunfels Police the crash was at the intersection of Denise Drive and Pams Path around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.  Police said the 24-year-old male appeared to have lost control of a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle and struck a utility police. The victim, who is from Canyon Lake, was not wearing a helmet.

(16) Liberty Hill — March 17, 2019 — Katie Kerr, 33, of Spring, Texas died in a Liberty Hill crash off of Highway 29 on Sunday.  The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said the three-vehicle crash occurred at the 18800 block of Highway 29 in Liberty Hill around 3:45 p.m.   Medics took eight people to the hospital, including five children.

(15) Elgin — March 13, 2019 —Two people killed Wednesday night in a traffic crash near Elgin around 6:20 p.m. on Hwy 95 just outside the city limits of Elgin.  DPS said a 2015 GMC Terrain was southbound when a tractor trailer turned in front of it. The driver of the GMC — identified as 46-year-old Christine Renee Jones — tried to avoid hitting the truck, but instead hit a 2006 Chevy Malibu,  driven by 73-year-old Hilton Knox Jr.  Both Jones and Knox died in the crash.

(14) Bastrop County — March 9, 2019 — (Motorcycle) – on March 9, Lawrence Castillo II, 30, was killed while riding a motorcycle without any protective gear along FM 535. Police say Castillo crashed into a car turning off the highway.

(12) Leander — March 8, 2019 — (Pedestrian) — Leander Police say a 65-year-old man was hit and killed Friday night on Crystal Falls Parkway.  Leander police have confirmed that the pedestrian was walking across Crystal Falls Parkway when a car going northbound hit him. The victim is Maxey Bass, 65, of Leander. He is believed to have been walking southbound at an area that is not marked as a crosswalk and isn’t well-lit.

(11) Travis County — March 3, 2019 —A woman is dead following a crash in Northwest Austin on Sunday morning, EMS said. The crash happened in the 6900 block of N. RM 620 near RM 2222.  The woman, believed to be in her 30s, died at the scene. A man believed to be in his 40s was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

(10) San Marcos — February 28, 2019 — (Motorcycle) – A man was killed early Thursday in San Marcos after his motorcycle ran into a garbage truck, city officials said.  Armando Puentes, 44, was riding a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the 300 block of Staples Road in South San Marcos, around 2:22 a.m. when he collided with a garbage truck that was blocking the roadway while it was emptying a large trash dumpster, officials said.

(9) Travis County — February 22, 2019 — (Motorcycle) – One person was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon in western Travis County, Austin-Travis County EMS officials said. The crash between a vehicle and a motorcyclist happened at 2:10 p.m. in the 6600 block of Singleton Bend Road near Lago Vista.

(8) Round Rock — February 21, 2019 — Alexia Scordelis, 17,  died in the hospital after the crash, which occurred around 5:04 p.m. on Thursday night at County Road 117 near Round Rock.  DPS said a Plymouth Neon was southbound on CR 117 and tried to make a left turn onto Bluffstone Drive, when it crossed in front of a Chevrolet Silverado that was heading north.  The driver of the Neon, a 17-year-old student, and her passenger, Scordelis, were taken to the hospital.  Scordelis was a student at Stony Point High School in the Round Rock school district.

(7) Manor — February 18, 2019 — One person died and two others were hospitalized on Monday morning after a crash in Manor.  The crash happened around 5:20 a.m. on U.S. 290 at Cedar Street.  Manor police said a sport utility vehicle heading east slammed into the side of an 18-wheeler as it was turning to head west on the Cedar Street turnaround.  The front passenger in the SUV later died from their injuries and the other passenger was being treated for injuries, police said.

(6) Bastrop — February 10, 2019 —The Bastrop Police Department has identified a Bastrop High School student who died in a car crash on Texas 95 on Sunday as 18-year-old Bailey Butler.  Police say Butler, who lived in Bastrop, was driving southbound on Texas 95 near Mesquite Street when she crashed into a vehicle that was heading north on the highway.  Police say Butler, who was driving a 2008 Chevy Cobalt, drove into oncoming traffic and struck 47-year-old Danni Anderson, who was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra truck, according to a preliminary investigation.  Butler was pronounced dead at the scene.  The crash happened about 12:40 p.m. Sunday.  Police have not said if weather played a role in the crash.

(5) University of Texas Campus — January 28, 2019 — (Bicycle) – A bicyclist died after crashing with a CapMetro bus Monday night on the University of Texas campus.  The crash took place at about 10:30 p.m. just south of 23rd Street on San Jacinto Blvd. The bus and cyclist were both headed in the same direction when the crash occurred.  The victim, 39-year-old Austinite Anthony John Diaz, was pronounced dead at the scene.

(4) Travis County — January 22, 2019 — DPS reported a man has died after a crash near US Highway 290.  The crash happened at around 6:45 a.m. in the 8000 block of Tara Lane.  According to the DPS, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on US 290 when it veered into the westbound lane, sideswiping one vehicle and then crashing head-on with another vehicle. The victim is the driver who veered into the wrong lane.

(3) Williamson County — January 12, 2019 — (Motorcycle) –  A motorcyclist is dead after a crash in Williamson County Saturday morning.  The crash occurred on the 3000 block of Hairy Man Road just after 10:45 a.m. The area is east of I-35 and just south of Sam Bass Road in the Stone Canyon area.

(2) New Braunfels — January 12, 2019 — New Braunfels police have released the name of a 23-year-old man who died in a crash along I-35 in New Braunfels early Saturday morning. That man is identified as Austin Tenpenny.  New Braunfels Police and Fire Department’s were dispatched to the crash at the 3900 block of I-35 North on the northbound frontage road after midnight.  The area is past where State Highway 46 intersects I-35 in between New Braunfels and San Marcos.   When officers arrived, they saw that the driver of a 2008 Jeep Wrangler had struck the back of utility trailer that was being towed by an International 18-wheeler.

(1) Kyle — January 7, 2019 — Kyle police on Thursday will close part of FM 150 as part of their investigation into a two-vehicle crash this week that led to the death of a 20-year-old woman.  Adriana Vasquez of Kyle and her dog were killed Tuesday when she was traveling east on FM 150, between Hill Street and Lehman Road, around 4:30 p.m.
