Vision Zero ATX 2016 Voter Guide

Vision Zero ATX is a grassroots community organization that believes all road users in Austin should be safe from death or serious injury. Members of Vision Zero ATX and other advocates for traffic safety and safe mobility options developed a series of questions to ask Austin-area candidates on the November 2016 ballot, to help inform voters of the positions and knowledge of each candidate regarding these topics. Candidates who responded to the questionnaire are listed alphabetically by surname. The few candidates not listed here did not respond to our requests for their positions on these traffic safety and safe mobility issues. Note that Vision Zero ATX does not endorse political candidates.

Proposition 1: 2016 Mobility Bond – City of Austin voters have a proposition on the ballot to approve or reject a $720 million bond to be used for funding transportation engineering projects across the city. This would fund the reconstruction or redesign of major transportation corridors, regional road projects, parts of the sidewalk and bicycle master plans, the urban trails program, infrastructure funds for the Safe Routes to Schools program, and infrastructure funds for the Vision Zero program. Vision Zero ATX is neutral on the bond – learn more here.
